DEM data not importing

Hey all, Kegg Works again.

So I've come across an oddity in the route builder. A while back I started building a 3ft narrow gauge route, the Battle Mountain & Lewis, and I used the Import DEM tool in-game and it worked fine. I even started a second route and it to worked just fine. And for reference I followed this tutorial on YouTube to gat TS set up for importing terrain data.

As said things were just fine, and then all of a sudden the import tool has stopped working. I haven't made any changes so I'm not really sure what has happened to prevent the import terrain tool functioning properly. Any tip, tricks, or suggestions as to what the culprit is? And yes, I've checked to make sure I have the correct DEM data in the folder. It's there, but it's not importing.

See this post elsewhere: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=20358 Also, look to see you have the proper latitude and longitude height files for the Quadrangles you are working in within the DEM/SRTM folders. If that data is missing the Import Tool will stop working. You will also get a fairly straight drop-edge at that particular location showing where the data stopped. Then all you need to do is add the data into the folder for the missing locations and re-enter the process in the editor.

Is it possible to use .tif files instead of .hgt?
My country website give precise data in .tif only.

Not without converting the .tif files to .img, and then converting them again to get them to .hgt There are scripts for this available. What country are you trying to get DEM for?

I should have thr files, and I redownloaded and entered them into the folders. To test my theory I went to my current route and tried adding more terrain. It worked before and I KNOW I have the file for that region. But again, it isn't working. So the files are there.

That doesn't give us much information to help you troubleshoot this.

Remember, each DEM grid file of latitude and longitude is only ~50 miles x ~70 miles. You could have the .hgt file for one of these for your route and importing the terrain will work. The moment you move outside of the area that file covers, nothing will import.

What country are you trying to get DEM for?

There is also an option when I import hgt files, it is called GDEM, what is that?

Well I figured out the problem. Appearently I didn't have all the dem files for the areas I wanted to have on my route(s). Thanks for the link in the other thread, it helped out a lot!
