The noise of the joints as the tick tock of some gigantic clock
marking the time between the stops
at tiny towns to collect milk and drop the mail
Watching and day dreaming through windows
like a looking glass back through time
as the trees and poles marking the miles
The sway and roll like the cradle you were rocked in as a babe
to find yourself dreaming of other places
From the light to the dark and coolness of portals through the damp earth
only to emerge in another place, another land
Idle chatter and strangers becoming friends in the lounge
watching The lines of steel behind converging at infinity leaving only to see
them disappear into yesterday only to be traveling to tomorrow.
