Hi everyone ... problem installing ARR ltw cars

Unread postby Gerardgeek » Mon Nov 27, 2017 3:25 am

Hi

I’m new to this fantastic site!

I recently downloaded ARR lwt Passenger cars by Buzz 456 to use with the new DLC Train Simulator: The Alaska Railroad: Anchorage - Seward Route Add-On.

http://railworksamerica.com/index.php/d ... k-repaints

I have TS 2018.

The intention was to use the passenger cars to build custom consists for quick drive using 1 or 2 of the locos from the DLC with a selection of the passenger cars.

I ran the installer and noticed this placed a G-traX folder in Railworks. I next opened TS 2018 went to quick drive and proceded to build a consist placing a loco first from the diesel list ... under wagons I found the ARR ltw passenger cars listed however when clicking on each of them no image came up and so I couldn’t build with them.

Is there another download I need? I noticed although this is written up as a stand alone package, it is also indicated as a repaint.

Also the install instructions state:

‘Just run the installer tick off GTrax trains and away you go’.

I’m not sure where to tick off GTrax trains (is this in scenario mode on the right hand side if so only the right and left boxes are tickable, the centre box with the train icon above it is not tickable for the GTrax option) ... and in any case I didn’t really want to design scenarios, I would just like to build some consists for quick drive.

I would greatly appreciate some help.

Many thanks Ken

Hi Ken,

I'm a bit new to this stuff myself, but I'll try to help if I can. It sounds like you don't have the base package installed. Be sure you install first, the following file from the RWA library:

G-TraX 4-Pack Lightweight Passenger Cars by Rick Grout, file-name: GX_Ltwt4pack_RW2.rar

Often times, you can follow a repaint's installation routine and it will install the folder structure and show up in your assets fly-out panel in the scenario builder, but it will not be visible when you try to place it onto your route if the base model's geo-files are not present.

Please keep us posted if you need additional assistance. ~ Rudi

Edit: I just checked the Alaska file you downloaded, and it's listed as a "stand-alone" product (it already has the geo-file already in it); so unfortunately I'm at a loss as well. Just to close any loops, I still recommend installing the base package I linked to. Hopefully someone else can offer some advice.

I listed that as a stand alone however looking the folder over in the G-Trax folder you need a 'Common' folder. That will be G-Trax\Trains\RailVehicles\Passenger\Common. Do you have such a thing? If not Rudi is right and you will need to D/L the original Passenger cars file.
