How is the route loading/playing for you guys? Is it reasonable?

I was concerned that the amount of assets I used might be a bit much for some systems. I havent seen any complaints,.. so I guess you guys are ok then?

Yes..the route is calling for this file and the PONTrack2.bin file as well. There are many, many strings in the track, loft and road tiles of this route which I have deleted ( and will be useless to me now when the author makes a future update. ) He will have to decide which and what to do with this issue.
There are several payware items which I have nearly all of, if not all. There are a lot of freeware stuff which I don't have and I guess a lot of other folks will be of the same maybe??.
I am a believer that the author of a route must and should eventually ( supply a list of and where to get ) or ( supply such assets ) that are required.
Yes, it was stated that you download and install this Route at own risk...
I have been chasing assets and files for many years now and have got to a point where I don't bother to look or chase anymore. The Route looks great and super from the pics I have seen and no doubt will become better and better as time and upgrades permit...I have not run it and most likely never will as a lot of assets are required to find.....I like to have running what the author has and see's.

Is there a list of the payware items needed? I would assume not.

Please this is a pre alpha with no guarantees and no fancy lists or asset packs. Either deal with it or wait until later. I have it and it runs very nice. Yeah there are some things missing but that's what a development release is all about.

It's alright for you Buzz....you may have everything and it may run fine on your system....but some folks I guess ( and I am one of them !!!! ) ain't as lucky as you and need some guidance as to what is required and needed to at least run.

BTW Buzz.....Hurst did state and ask " How is the route loading/playing for you guys? Is it reasonable? "

To be fair to Hurst, he probably doesn't know the saga of the PONTrack.bin file issue, so, is probably unaware of its importance, if his route works it might be inconsequential as to whether we have it installed or not.

Just a small list of some of my missing assets:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\atomicdanny\Vehicles - Danny is part of the DTG team now, he was one of us at one time, I will look for these vehicles for you
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\CreativeRail\RBP1\Scenery\Buildings - Creative Rail have their own British website, it is a freeware pack of misc assets, clutter, and whatever,
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\denlog\denlog model\scenery\Buildings - I think this is Dennis Loginsky, or, something similar, he is Russian and much of his work is dotted around the Russian and Ukranian free websites, I do have some of his other work so will have a look for this item as well.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\Developer\Product\Environment\Terrain\Decals - Terrain Decals need to be ignored they are something to do with the DEM data, so, aren't assets as such.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\eyore\Cranes\Scenery\Misc - Eyore is Phil Baines, another Brit, his assets are in the UKTS library.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\GRUPO_STR\Addons\Scenery\Vehicles - Spanish Railworks develoment team, their assets are on the website SpainTrainzRutas, have a look on here - http://www.spaintrainzrutas.com/download/
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\Jay\Addon\Scenery\Veg - unknown creator to me for now, just a tree, so, maybe it can be ignored for the time being.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\newS\misc\scenery\Vehicles - newS is Swen Klemund from Germany his vehicle packs are on here - http://www.klemund.de/RailSimulator/downloads.html
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\pawerybs\KBS_175_byPawerybs\Stations - Pawerbys is Pawel from Poland, his assets are on various websites, try the German one here - http://rail-sim.de/forum/wsif/index.php ... 56-Houses/

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\radiomaster\Carcazz object - Radiomaster is again from Russia, he sort of co-ordinates things from the various Russian/Ukranian developers and creators and uploads asset packs on a couple of Russian sites, I'll investigate which one these are on.

I'm sorry for any complications in regards to missing assets and getting the route working. I will make an effort to figure out how to list all of the assets needed and where to download or buy them.

I know here on this site,. I've downloaded virtually everything from the "Models" section. I've downloaded every single route and what ever they came with. Then on other 3rd party sites like UK TrainSim, 3D Trains and a few others I'm struggling to remember,.. I downloaded all of their free stuff. Most all of of the payware assets came from routes I bought from steam. I wont say I didnt buy any 3rd party models or kits,.. I just dont remember. You have to figure,.. I was playing around with MS Train simulator and then Railworks between 2007 - 2009 and then Railworks exclusively starting around 2010. Then started editing and modifying existing routes and changing all of the short cuts that made my OCD go ballistic. Then fell upon starting the Kansas City route purely by accident while looking on Google maps and noticed all of the rail yards and thought wow,.. this would make a kick butt route. Little did I know at the time how involved it would turn out to be. I am honestly just a novice amateur.

So please be patient,.. and I will work on making things easier for those of you needing missing assets.

As for the "PONTrack2.bin" issue. What is this? Cant I remove it from the route? How can I fix this so others do not have a problem with it?

The search feature on this forum is a bit lacking. I honestly do not have the time to read through 500 pages of threads with a keyword that may or may not contain the help I need. If someone would be so kind as to provide a link to the problem,.. I am pretty resourceful and will do my best to figure out how to correct or fix the issue.

Thanks,

Hurst

@...Steve: Thanks a bunch, will help a lot...you are a man of much knowledge.

@...Hurst: Maybe you should open a new thread in the " Freeware WIP " section where we all can discuss issues, reason and updates. Leave this thread to screenshots only.

Cheers...

I presume that you are predominately recreating the UP route between Kansas City and St. Louis. If so, that will allow us to not only run UP freight trains but also the Amtrak Missouri River Runner. Kansas City does offer lots of switching opportunities as their are rail yards for 4 major rails lines that all intersect in the city. KCS, BNSF, UP, and NS all have yards, and the smaller railroad MNA (Missouri and Northern Arkansas) runs south to Joplin, Mo as well. It could be fun to swap cars from one rail yard to another to get freight shipped across country. I know that BNSF and UP coal trains coming from the Powder River Basin in Montana come through KC and switch to KCS and MNA to power plants down south. Definitely lots of fun to be had with this route.

Created a WIP discussion thread for this route in the Freeware WIP section.

So lets move all discussions to there.

wlenz781:

Absolutely,.. this route should offer endless possibilities once completed. So many lines, yards, industry, I agree 100%.

I do not personally know what trains operate on these lines. Only that the volume of yards, sidings, and industry congested into the area just screamed out and made me want to start building on it. I was originally building it just for me. But after showing some screen shots to a friend,.. he said that something like this would be very welcomed to the community and it would be a shame not to share it. So,.. here I am.

Just bare in mind,.. I like trains,.. but I do not know all of the technicalities that go with them. I do not know any of the inner workings other than a few youtube videos that I watched.

Anyway,.. happy that I reached out to all of you now. Better to catch any problems or issues now,.. than to try to fix them later.

Thanks,

Hurst

Well because it started out with just pictures of this here route he was working on, one thing lead to another, and now we have massive mission creep. I'll move it.
