That depends on what the designer is after. I took his comment about the cut as he didn't want it, or it was too deep. The embankment and cutting only controls the angle of the cut or embankment from what I have witnessed. The smoothing technique smooths the cut or embankment so they are no longer visible using a smoothed slope. I use this technique all the time when I am laying track and the terrain data is not accurate.

I have noticed, in my few feeble attempts at route building, that most offen the terrain height data “Includes” the height of trees and forests.... So, you may have to clear back and smooth out quite a bit. Just a thought....
