Class 42 (Warship) Issues

Unread postby NorthernWarrior » Tue Sep 19, 2017 2:03 am

The above loco is sold as part of the diesel hydraulic pack including the Hymek and Western. Probably best of the three (sounds on the Hymek and Western are awful) but appears to have a major issue with physics. Specifically on resuming a run I'm getting little or no tractive effort, even in full throttle. I was doing a quick drive on WCML North and having previously climbed the 1 in 120 out of Carlisle towards Shap at a respectable 65 - 66 MPH, on resuming the session and descending onto the level stretches beyond Lancaster speed is progressively dropping to around 40 MPH. I've checked all the brakes (including handbrake) are released, the only other possibility is that on resuming a run the scripting hasn't loaded the direction lever being in forward.

I've checked the thread at UKTS on the pack and while there are general observations the locos in the pack are underpowered, this is a much more specific issue and doesn't get mentioned.

Any ideas, folks?

Locos that have "advanced controls" generally have a scripted connection between the power handle in the cab and the actual control variable of the simulation engine.

Those scripts often don't survive a pause, save and resume intact. Unfortunately, I don't think much can be done about this.

I will try stopping the train, shutting down the loco and restarting. As it's only a QD run, no career "points" to lose!

Edit: Yes can confirm only way to restore traction power is to stop the train, reverser into neutral, shut down engine and restart. Full power than available. Wonder why this wasn't picked up on during testing, though?
