RWA Lakeside route forests

Unread postby gwgardner » Wed May 24, 2017 5:31 pm

1) Examining the forests and groundcover on the RWA Lakeside Route, I was surprised that I could not edit the forested areas. It's like the huge forested areas are a groundcover texture, painted on. However when I try to paint over them with a different groundcover texture, the trees remain.

Please advise how trees like that are placed on a route.

2) what's the purpose of the forest and farm 'marker' groundcovers?

The forests and some scenery are results of those huge black hollow squares you see on the ground. Move those around to move all the scenery attached to it.

They are called asset blocks. You can select and edit them in the route editor with the asset pallette selected.

Wayne wrote some kind of custom software for the RWA scenery so it's not typical of anything you will see anywhere else.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to have to add the RWA Lakeside ground textures to my route, and try those asset blocks more.

Anytime I hear someone use the word "Asset Blocks" I think of Maple Leaf Tracks from the o'l MSTS day's. It was actually a brilliant idea. Good times, Good times.

For anyone else who wants to add the RWA style ground covers to their route, they're in the the WACampbell assets. Those with flora are denser and taller than most other ground cover textures I've seen. At least freeware.
