RSC Empire Builder Pack 01

Unread postby qrfan3 » Sun Apr 09, 2017 5:34 pm

If somebody has the EmpireBuilderPack01...would you mind and please check that I am not loosing my marbles.. !**duh*!!
I would like to verify that the bogie wheels indicated by the circles do not rotate and if so will notify DTG of this issue.
Whether they fix it now that TSW is the new kid on the block...... !*don-know!*

Thanks in advance.

I'm pleased to inform you and I'm sure you are relieved to know that you are not losing your marbles. Indeed it appears those wheels are not turning.

How are truck wheels animated? Could it be that there is no provision for 6 wheel trucks? The bogey's from the Great Dome Lounge are linked to 60SeatCoach, and those are 4 wheel trucks! Typical RSC .... *!twisted!*

Here is what I did, using RW_Tools:
I unpacked the .ap file,
I copied the bogey01 and 02.bin files from the 60SeatCoach folder into the GreatDomeLounge folder,
I edited the bogey .bin files and copied the bo01wh02 section and pasted it under the wh02 renamed as bo01wh03 in each of the bogey .bins, the other truck is bo02 of course,
I edited the GreatDomeLounge.bin and changed the paths in the <Bogey> section to the edited bogies I copied into the GreatDomeLounge folder.

All wheels are turning now but the trucks swivel the wrong way under the car body??? !*hp*!
I remedied that by swapping the trucks in the GreatDomeLounge.bin file.

BTW: do the six wheel trucks have six wheel truck sounds? Audio apparently comes from a Superliner sound set and I believe there are no Superliners on 6 wheel trucks??

For anyone who decides to do this don't forget Edwin said you need to edit your bin file for the GreatDomeLounge or it will still be looking at the 60 seat car.

Buzz is right, it is a bit complicated when you still have to edit some .bin files.

Here are two zip file with both EmpireBuilderPack01 and 02 GreatDomeLounge .bin and bogie.bin files.
Extract the contents of each archive to your unpacked Railvehicles\Passenger\GreatDomeLounge folders:

The replacement files worked Buzz, on both the Empire Builders?

About the truck sounds, I didn't hear any three axle trucks, both outside the Great Dome and inside the lounge.
I might try the default Sherman Hill truck sounds, or try a six axle locomotive sound and listen for any difference.

More issues with quality control of RSC DLC, and perhaps another support ticket for DTG?
I think I better send the files over to DTG, instead of putting them up in the RWA file library.

Yes, but the horizontal offsets for three wheels would be different than the set values for two wheels originally designed for the 60 seat coach.
I see your value for the wheel three is set as the same for wheel 2 ...?
Should they be: 1.52 = 0.0 = -1.51 ( wh01 = wh02 = wh03 ) maybe the offset distances are slightly greater ......who knows.. !*don-know!*
I'll see what my ticket brings, I still haven't got an answer yet.

I don't know either, the "visual" position of the wheels is defined by the great dome's shape file, and they do seem to line up with the journal boxes. The bogey.bin could state the "logical" wheel base of the trucks, besides size and gauge of the wheelsets. Perhaps some of our resident creators know the definite answer?

Here are new bogie.bin files with the axles spaced on 5'6", the value I found in an Amtrak car plan:

EmpireBuilderPack02.zip

UPDATE: I received a reply back from DTG in regards to my ticket.

Unbelievable... !*roll-laugh*!

The couplings of this great dome lounge are also r..s..t
I checked the dimensions / details of the great dome lounge against the dome coach and they appear to be the same base mesh so all the lengths, pivots and receiving points for the couplers should be the same. I copied the matrix values over from the dome coach to the great dome lounge and all appears to be okay as shown by the pics below.
I will update my ticket and resend, so DTG can look into this error as well. All the other coaches for this pack appear to look okay at this stage.
