The visual quality of the distant scenery, especially trees, looks even worse now IMHO, and the game won't save my settings. Keeps starting in the resolution of 1920x1080 with some low settings.
I'm quitting this game for now. If they want me to act like a crash test dummy to improve their software, I want to be paid accordingly.
Over and Out...

On Build 46 now.

So far, I haven't noticed increased graphics performance, still < 15 fps most of the time. Most curious seems that changing the settings doesn't change fps at all.
Something has changed though, the cab sway seems more prominent now, meaning CPU cycles have been released from graphics to go into simulation?

AMD FX4100 @ 4 GHz processors perhaps too weak to handle the game, paired with a 980Ti?? Average load is CPU 60% GPU 60%, I am baffled.

Will update my new VR rig (Intel 7700K/nVidia1080) later.

No changes have been made to distant scenery...

Edit: However if people notice any issues please report back to DTG and we will track em down.

It says the Patch size is 2.9 GB's, Edwin, on the Steam page, which is the same volume as the original game version download.

Fixes in the patch include -

Missing hand brake chain sound on box car has been added.
Whistle board had an electrical hum sound, this has been removed.

Blimey, which rivet counters have stood next to these listening for any sounds, that might, or, might not, be there in the first place, the mind boggles.
And whenever I've passed a WhistlePost, I've been on full bore at 50mph, sounding my bloody horn as instructed, so, how would I know that there was a slight hum from it....... !*roll-laugh*!

Cheerz. ex-railwayman.

Downloading the patch now. Hoping I see some increase in performance. Will report back.

Oh and in regards to your VR build.. Why go 1080 when the 1080 TI cards are just about to hit the shops? Im waiting for the ZOTAC GTX 1080 TI AMP Extreme. Its gonna rock! Cant wait to see the benchmarks and reviews.

Same download as _o_OOOO_oo-Kanawha, 608 mb.

Pleasantly Surprised !!*ok*!! I got between 3-5 FPS increase with this latest build. Not much but its a start.

See included screenshot, im running a 3440x1440 resolution.

Upload.jpg

Game settings. AntiaAliasing = TAA

Foliage Quality = Ultra ( strangely going from High to Ultra gave me +2 FPS, dont know why !*don-know!* )
Shadow Quality = Low
Effects Quality = Medium
Post Processing = High
View Distance = High
Texture Quality = High

Benchmark used:
GP 38-2, Services, Default Weather, Q353 Manifest Cumberland To Willard
View 1 = 29-30 FPS
View 2 = 28-29 FPS
View 3 = 29
View 8 = 27 See included screenshot. This is where I got the biggest boost with this latest update, went from 22 FPS to 27 FPS. This view of Q353 when stationary in the Yard is a great benchmark IMO, as the yard is "populated".

Would love to hear what you guys are getting on Q353 view 8.

Its nice to see the guys at DTG HQ working on improving the performance.

Make sure you select the right beta, there are two of them now. The previous one was indeed around 220 MB.

Code: Select all
By changing the game build.

1.   Right click on Train Sim World: CSX Heavy Haul in your Steam Library.
2.   Select Properties, then the Beta Tab.
3.   Select U2TB in the drop down.
4.   Download the update and launch the game.

Steam downloaded only 860 MB to get my game up to Build 46, I think the assets in the big .pak file got replaced. The core game exe is some 20 MB smaller than build 43.

The SD40 appears to sound better

If you have changed your graphics settings in the previous version, be sure to change back again as the new version puts them back to default.

My computer must have some kind of immunity: no graphics settings changes as a result of Beta 2; just improved performance.
