I have another prototypical question: Is there a historical precedent on the SN for using kerosene globe lamps as marker lights? Anything goes I guess on an interurban line like the SN, but it just looks odd. One would think that a glass globe lantern like that might not hold up as well in service as a traditional marker light.

I've seen some interurban railroads use bigger marker lamps like those but I've also seen a lot use hand lanterns like this Adlake Kero modified to have lantern holders on them. So maybe Rick was going for a kero type hand lantern by using a barn lantern.

When the SN left Cab Signal Territory at San Pablo Ave. did they cut out the cab signals or leave it running?

Our understanding is the GRS cab signal system simply shut itself down. We decided to script it so the purple NS light is lit, indicating that the cab-signal system is inactive.

How did the SN trains position themselves at stops with little to nonexistent platforms?

That's been answered in another post better than I ever could! I think of it as more or less like what happens at a bus stop, in other words, "as needed."

Is there a historical precedent on the SN for using kerosene globe lamps as marker lights?

Very few of the photos we had show markers, and many of them show no headlamp. Like the headlamps, the markers were manually hung from brackets, but only when needed. The headlamp was electric and there was an electrical receptacle on the front of the car (which is on the model). I saw no receptacles where the marker lights go, so I went with kerosene lanterns--purely my guess. I added the marker lights as kind of an afterthought anyway. Since the interurbans operated mostly during daylight hours, the lights apparently weren't used much. That's why I set them up so you don't see them unless you turn on the headlight switch.

At 2:33 is a long passenger train on Schafer Avenue - what is the stock and what would have pulled it?

That's the Comet. It looks like the train has six cars in the still photo shown in the video, so there were probably two or three motors (you can just make out one of the trolley poles about mid-way), two trailer coaches, and parlor car at the tail end. See http://www.wplives.org/sn/parlor.html for more information.

Thanks - that would be a nice train to replicate :)

So, I was operating a Career Scenario, the first in the list and had trouble with the traction motors not coupling to the first set of cattle cars. I saved the scenario at that point with separation between the motor and the cars.

In the video you can see where I started the scenario in Resume and the results of the scenario wasn't even close to where I saved and it crashed the two motors from the beginning of the scenario. I'm not so sure I did anything wrong as I have done this with other Career Scenarios in other routes and it worked fine. Any ideas?

Welcome to the wacky world of TS, where any random idiocy that can happen eventually does. !**duh*!! !*don-know!* !*hp*!

Solution: laugh and restart the scenario from the beginning.

Just wound up thinking about this. Would it work that the pantograph and trolley pole can be toggled, just like some third party and recent DTG electrics?

Solution 2: Shoot the computer
Solution 3: throw the computer through a window
Solution 4: Blow it up
Solution 5: simply restart your computer
Solution 6 (for MAC users): your F***ked

Which 3rd party and DTG electrics?

Very nicely detailed and interesting route. Thanks, G-Trax, you are one of the best route builders, with great attention to small details. Lightning poles, cars, buildings - it's all accurately represents historical era.

City sections look almost like tram line. You even need to stop on street lights. Whe played first time, I passed red, because I expected "normal" railroad signal.
Unfortunately cars have no collision ability, they pass through the train, but that's old problem in RW and not related to route - here it's especially noticeable when driving city street section
