A Youtuber by the name of Squirrel test-drove the alpha of TSW, above is his video about it. The only issues I saw other than the ones he pointed out are the bell sound and stopping distance.

Holy crap... that is looking really promising for the future.

Wow, check out the turntable you can operate by actually walking into the control room and clicking buttons and moving levers. This goes WAY beyond my original expectations.

Just popped on to post that video and you beat me to it.

Looking VERY good. I know some of us are into lots of routes and maybe even a collector kind of approach where we want models of most locos and lots of rolling stock. Me, I'm into simulation. I'm thinking I'll be very happy with even a few really nice routes and a few locos and rolling stock if they are modeled this faithfully and allow me to experience as much as possible what it's like to work on them.

Squirrel has the best in computer equipment, of course, since he's a youtube gamer of some note. But the performance looked very good to me as well in this video.

the wait kills me. *!lol!*

I completely agree! I have to say though I am a *bit* worried about the performance. His framerate really tanked when he neared the oncoming train. Then again, he was on the Ultra graphics setting, so who knows yet how it performs on the lower settings.

1 min :D

Edit: Remembered that they have something like 14,000 TSW Beta's to distribute.

Although the reviewer is a gamer, and not necessarily a train enthusiast, the video was informative and shows what to expect when you get your first taste of TSW. !!*ok*!!
Cheers!

Far as I could tell he was enthusiastic about it.

See I think this is so lame. Is this what railroading is about? I'm sure not speaking as a admin here.

Same stuff I have to do flying my PMDG 747 in a cold & dark cockpit. It adds to the immersion for some people. I imagine there will be short cut keys to simplify these processes so we can just get in and drive. At least I hope so as I do not want to have to do the start procedure every time I play. That vid shows it is simulating the whole 9 yards of being an engineer. Role playing.

Uh that's mine. *!embar*!

I just wanted to show that you could roleplay as a engineer, conductor, or a hostler.

Manual starting for me is fun. You can press Z to skip all that.

I appreciate having the choice. It's fun but you don't always have the time.
Also, most often in real life when the engineer begins his shift the engine is already running.
