Pacific Surfliner and Southwest Chief: Track Work Affects Service

Three October Weekends
Effective October 7 - 9, 14 - 16 and 21 - 23, 2016

Due to track work being performed by Southern California Regional Rail Authority and North County Transit District and also the demolition of the 6th Street viaduct over the Los Angeles River, Southwest Chief and Pacific Surfliner service will be affected, as shown below:
Southwest Chief Trains 3 and 4: Saturdays and Sundays, October 8 - 9, 15 - 16 and 22 - 23, 2016

During the weekend outages, Trains 3 and 4 will not stop at Riverside and Fullerton. Customers with reservations to or from Fullerton will be provided bus service between Fullerton and Los Angeles. Customers with reservations to or from Riverside will board and detrain at San Bernardino, 10 miles east of Riverside.
Pacific Surfliner Train 595: Fridays, October 7, 14 and 21, 2016

Train 595 which normally operates between San Diego and Los Angeles will operate between San Diego and Fullerton only on the Fridays shown above. Bus service will be provided between Fullerton and Los Angeles.
Pacific Surfliner Service: Saturdays and Sundays, October 8 - 9, 15 - 16 and 22 - 23, 2016

On the Saturdays and Sundays shown above, there will be no train service between Los Angeles and San Diego. Trains will operate north and east of Los Angeles on regular schedules. Thruway Connecting Bus Service will operate as dedicated connections with the Coast Starlight Trains 11 and 14, Southwest Chief Trains 3 and 4, Sunset Limited Train 2 and San Joaquin service north of Bakersfield.

Southbound buses will only discharge passengers from Los Angeles to San Diego, and will not stop for passengers to board. Additionally, buses will not stop at Anaheim, San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente Pier and will not make Coaster stops.

Northbound buses serving stations from San Diego to Los Angeles will only stop for customers who are boarding. Buses will not stop to discharge passengers. Additionally, buses will not make Coaster stops and will not stop at Old Town, San Clemente Pier, San Juan Capistrano and Anaheim.

Buses can only be reserved in conjunction with a connecting train service. Bus service will not be provided for passengers traveling locally between Los Angeles and San Diego.

Huh, different schedule also affects how often these trains run.
