Does anyone know where I can find the sounds files for the GP9? When I look in VNHRR\Springfield\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\GP9 I only see two windshield wiper related dav files

Thanks

Check out the path in the bin file. It's different.

The VNH-GP9 uses the RailSimulatorUS EMD567 sound set, aliased from the "shared" subfolder in the GP9. When you get the route from Steam you should get those installed automatically, when you get the update from Trains and Drivers you'll need to have the US Loco & Assets Pack (Cajon Pass etc.), which was a prerequisite for version 2, installed to hear the sounds.

Most of the sounds are well enough but the GP9 horn sounds off and doesn't seem to work quite right. Any recommendations on a source to replace it?

I guess its possible its completely accurate but it seemed like the sound of the GP9s that went through my town had a lot more bark, a sharper sound that got your attention from miles away. The GP9 here seems like more of a "meep, meep".

Not a dig on the route, I understand that horn is a DTW asset.

There are approximately eight thousand six hundred seventy two horns in the library. Pick one.

LOL, no, the horn is actually one of the few sound items we did ourselves for this loco. *!greengrin!* And it's not a horn -- it's a whistle. A Hancock Air Whistle, to be precise.

For anyone who would like a QD using the excellent FL9 and VHNHRR coaches here is a file to do just that. The advantage over a free roam is that there is all that nice traffic coming at you. Just unzip this and drop it into the FL9Pack01\PreLoad folder.

Thanks Buzz and thanks for the CTRL-D reminder. I even spotted some RDC traffic running the same direction on a parallel track. Great AI traffic in those Quick Drives.

Ok, that explains why it sounds so different. I was expecting the blat of the horns that took gravel through my town up until they upgraded a few years ago.. so I thought something was wrong.

Anyone else having trouble with the "Shade Grown Tobacco" S2 career scenario? Whenever I try to start it I get a loading error on scenario.bin.

Several suggestions have been made to hit the F2 key and then re-start the scenario. I haven't been there yet but a couple of guys said that worked to fix the problem.

Edit: Tested it yes it works.

Re the Geep 9s, I may be wrong but I seem to recall seeing an early photo on DTG's website with a cab interior that was pretty similar to the original Geep 9s from RSC (as was).

I received my update from Trains & Drivers and my Geep cabview is as originally modelled by Michael - is that the same as comes with the Steam version or do the Steam Geep 9s come with the DTG cabview?

The DTG cabview IS included with the new GP9s, but note that if you installed v3 over v2 you will now have TWO sets of GP9s (Michael's originals as well as the new ones using DTG+ parts).
