I think these rating systems are mostly useless. Seems based on pals and perceived enemies.

I agree with that, but it is still fun to see a bunch of stars on your upload. And not so when you don't get any or low ones.

Around here it's also an honest appraisal of if your work needs some more attention to detail.
I did notice at Steam though, that at least one negative review came in, before anyone could possibly have run my first scenario. What I mean by that, is that the negative review came in just minutes after I posted it up and it's a 70 minute scenario. !*roll-laugh*!
So there is some trolling going on.
I also got some "nice" comments, that I later figured out were coming from persons that don't even own Train Simulator.
I think that's how they are getting some of the badges over there. !*don-know!*

The problem with such a rating system is that no one will go back to the library for adding a rating after installing and using the asset.
That's why in TS2016 they added the rating popup when you finish a Workshop scenario (I agree there should be a "not now" button").
That's also why LinkedIn will greet you occasionnally with a popup in which you can endorse your friends' skills, which is a way of rating them. I have to admit that if it wasn't for the popups I would never endorse anyone.

There's no way of doing any of this for the RWA file library.

The problem with the workshop scenario rating is that it pops up and asks you for a rating even if you had a problem getting it to load because of some issue that may be a missing asset or something that has nothing to do with whether you liked it. The only way you can get rid of the darn thing is to exit the game if you are not ready to rate something.

I can see your point there and have had that exact same thing happen to me. I don't want to give a negative review in a case like that, so I just give a thumbs up. IE benefit of the doubt. *!greengrin!*
