Looks very good! Also looking forward to having an up-to-date Cajon Pass.

As an aside, if you hadn't posted pictures, I'd have laughed at the April Fool's joke.

Thank you all.

More screenshots coming.

I didn't even realize it was April Fools till about midday and I thought 'Great, they're all gonna think this is fake.' Time for more screenies.

Keenbrook. Shots from 3 or 4 months ago as I was working up the pass with scenery. It's a tiny bit different now, I changed the ballast underpainting to the slighly darker gravel color.

Both shots taken between Oro Grande and Helendale. First one is around 11a.m. and second one is late afternoon light.

Looks awesome so far! Are you using the track from Steven's Pass?

Thanks NStrains. I have used Steven's Pass track, mainly around West Colton & Barstow yards for some variety. The overwhelming majority of the route is ScaleRail and now that I think about it I don't think I ever mentioned that superelevation has been implemented throughout the route except, of course, near or in yards or where a switch placement too close or on a curve prevented me from superelevating that curve.

Well now, I'm glad I saw this.
I was thinking of redoing Cajon Pass when I'm done with Donner, but now I won't bother.

Thanks for the kind words folks.

I'll have more shots tomorrow most likely. I'll give you a tour around the San Bernardino A & B yards.

Kind words? If I love playing in Cajon as it is, imagine that beautiful work you are doing. !*brav*! !*brav*! !*brav*!
It is hard to distinguish if the screenshots are real photos or the game.

I agree with all of the above. It really looks very good.

For me, Cajon Pass is still a very viable route from the operating perspective, and a fully complete Palmdale Cutoff will only add to its value.

The ancient Railworks' one could use a good overhaul, and several failed attempt have been made before. There is a Mojave Desert Railroading clone available from trainsim.com, but it lacks all of the newest features like super elevation and such.

I am looking forward to your route's eventual release and silently wish for a Bakersfield extension over Tehachapi Pass so one can run full Barstow-Bakersfield or Bakersfield-West Colton services vice versa, etc.
But that will make the tracks.bin rather large.

Have you actually tested the route under load with lots of AI services yet? Or is that still a bit premature given the current WIP status?
Large and highly detailed routes of late tend to crash the game when lots of AI is present.
Running the route ' empty ' with only a player train in free roam gives you what memory load?

This looks very good, we'll be watching this thread for more developments, good luck with your little project.

Incidentally, there is a wind turbine in the Soldier Summit Payware route, which I expect many of you American railfans already have, just a thought. !!*ok*!!
