The route is actually 815 miles long running from Billings, Mt. to Spokane, Wa. Huntley, Mt. is where the MRL really begins which is about 20 miles east of Billings, but it's currently not in the route. So far, no complications have arisen with the route being this big. It's going to be a lot of fun to run and more to build.
“The human brain is like a railroad freight car -- guaranteed to have a certain capacity but often running empty.”
Buzz the black fog is a term that they used back in the BN days when it took 5 engines up front and the two sets of helpers on a coal train. After the head end passed a thick cloud of diesel exhaust filled the air, even minutes after the rear end is clear. Most helper crews had to wear masks. The Mullan Pass dvd or vhs by Video Rails shows it excellently.
Exactly, I have trains magazine and theres a whole article on that Mullan Tunnel. And Buzz and the rest of the team, I salute you for making the Montana Rail Link
I found that Exxon refinery on Google maps easily, great work. Do they by chance use the GATX Tank trains up that way? I'd enjoy having a true to life place to run them.
