Equipment for C&O

Postby buzz456 » Mon Apr 25, 2011 4:44 pm

Tori,
I can't believe the lack of C&O equipment out there. Have you harassed anyone into at least making a caboose to use on your layout? I can deal with some of this, however I'm working on some steam stuff and can't find a caboose. Have you got one hiding away somewhere or does anyone else know about where to maybe find one? **!!bang!!**
!*cheers*!

If God had intended for man to fly, He wouldn't have given us the railroads.

Yea, that's all I had until a new blue one showed up here in the RWA library this month. I know about a couple of other repaints in the works but not finished yet.
I think that after I get this next version out and folks get serious about writing scenarios for it, there will be more equipment made. That seems to be the way the cycle goes.
To anyone considering making something, there is quite a bit of CSX stuff available, which is prototypical of the line post '80's. There is some Chessie stuff around which serves the mid 70's through the mid 90's here, and as you've noticed, very little C&O which is needed for pretty much anything prototypical of pre-1975. I've been too busy to test out a couple of the new products and I have actually picked out a couple of simple things that I might try repainting myself (am tinkering with a coal hoppper).

I do have two surprises I'm holding onto until the release... there's a tease of one on my home page now. The other one is C&O and very coooool. Nothing extraordinary to some folks, but I'm sure happy to have them.

That's a Chessie... I know it's the same company but back then it seemed like a completely different company. Btw, I also think of the B&O as the COMPETITION! lol

I would like to see more old delapidated C&O equipment (70 and 100t coal hopper era) and "newish" Chessie System stuff. I never saw much washed or freshly painted equipment so I like most stuff dusty to grundgy. Older C&O and newer Chessie equipment, roughly mid 70's to mid 80's, mix very well in a prototype train on the Alleghany. Old Chessie equipment does not mix well with new C&O equipment. It just looks really "wrong", LOL.
I am also hoping to see some more whitish (dirty) covered hoppers. I have no idea why, but I seldom ever saw the yellow ones here. Lots of white ones, though.
As usual, thanks for everyone for making this a better game for all. I am finding it impossible to keep up with the flow of new repaints being posted lately!!! Love it!

All it took was using the new search feature in the library with caboose as the search term. *!!wink!!*

BTW! I just added a new smilie that would have been perfect for your post. !DUH! *!greengrin!*
