You didn't imagine that that was the whole idea? I don't do tricks for the LCD or the GU.

I am still confused!
What do you get if you do NOT buy 2016?

What do you get if you do BUY 2016?

A quick summary of both would be helpful.

If you do not buy you get core update and if you have Sherman Hill and/or Penn Coal Route you get updated version of them and their rolling stock including new sound. If you purchase 2016 you get that plus West Rhine: Cologne - Koblenz Route Add-On . With the purchase you get both of the above mentioned routes if you don't own them plas the GTEL known as the 'Big Blow'.

For further details here is a link to engine driver which tells you everything in detail.

Thank you! Too much scattered info.
One more question.
If you do NOT buy, do you get the new menu?

There's a bit of additional info (and a graph) of what to expect in the update:

Plus the new Riviera 50s route with 4 or 5 BR steam locos and associated coaches and freight wagons.
Looking at a Matt Peddelsden video, the route looks quite better than the old one.
The German route has also the electric DB BR155 for the old German West Rhine.
I just purchased and I am downloading 2.2gb as I write this.
EDIT You get the new menu but with old ts2015 colors and background artwork. I believe this will be fixed in a future path and al will hace the blues colores.

Just a quick additional comment about content, specifically, the new Driver's Assist feature that is only available to those who buy the full update to TS2016: please note that this feature only applies to the locos included with the Riviera in the 50s route, so it will not, for example, help you learn to drive Rennie's remarkable steam engines.

Either I don't know how to turn driver assist on or I'm doing it right.

Do you have the free update that all TS2015 owners received or have you managed to purchase the full package -- only the latter includes Driver's Assist -- at least as far as I know.

I have read the DB BR155 is an excellent locomotive - that is because it is close to Virtual Railroads standards in terms of operational functionality. If anyone has the vR DB BR143 on Steam or any Expert Line locomotive they should know how the 155 will handle. The Riviera 50s driver assist is also useful for people to learn to operate many of the advanced steam locomotives from MeshTools, Victory Works, Digital Traction, Just Trains, and many more.

Turn it on and off with the B key or the bell icon on the HUD, and the message saying that it is on or off should appear in the top right hand corner.

Purchased the full package on release day.

I thought that switched between realistic and legacy mode. I'll go and try it this evening.

Actually, the on/off combination is CTRL+A, so there's no interference with the B for bell key press.

Sidebar: the manual for TS2016 can now be downloaded from its store page on Steam. According to a customer support representative, the manual should automatically download soon for all who have purchased the update. He didn't mention whether those settling for the free upgrade will get it as well.

I also noticed that Sherman Hill loads much slower than last time. Anyone know the reason for this?

Regarding the Krellnut sounds, I also noticed there are all new bogie and joint sounds. For some reason they aren't present in the existing Krellnut DLC package. Also interested what is the flat/perfect wheel rate in Sherman Hill as the freeware Krellnut wagon sound has variable settings.
