Tom,
To attempt to help you with your grouchiness the scenery is greatly enhanced in the new Sherman Hill, we have new enhanced wagon sounds and new locomotive sounds. I hadn't looked at the weather however that will be my morning project now that you mentioned it.

I haven't really noticed any new scenery updates to Sherman Hill. I was excited even before launching TS2016, I took a peek at the file structure of ShermanHillAssets.ap and took notice of the Krellnut sounds inside and the new EMD 710 sounds. The ES44AC also received the sounds from the discontinued ES44 10-engine pack from Krellnut. I was particularly disappointed by the horn and bell quality of the SD70M as the e-bell doesn't sound clean, and the K3LA end sound is poor as it appears to be the base unchanged horn sound when I extracted the file using DAV Decoder.

Yes, US Freight Car Sounds 2015 is now a core part of the game. The 710 sounds were mine and were never released. The ES sounds are from the 10-Engine pack. I had nothing to do with the horn and bell.

Did you actually send the 710 sounds, and I think the sounds are different those than in your discontinued SD70 10-engine expansion. DTG forgot to give you credit in the manual - Walter Jaeschke for freight, ES44, and SD70 sounds.

I'm just pleased that your sounds are a step up from the older sounds, although the old GEVO sounds from Anthony Wood weren't too bad either, but don't sound that good given that there is now a payware GEVO sound pack.

So, all US freight cars in all routes will now have your sounds by default, Krellnut? That's nice.

I fired up SH after the update and was pleased that your wagon sounds remained, although I thought they were perhaps quieter with fewer squeaky wheels than I had set them to. But I'll take whatever settings are standard if it means I will have them for everything.

I think we are going to do yet another hack to get them to work on everything as I think they are only pathed (is that a word?) to the two routes.

DTG remastered the pack to their standards.

This coming from the same folks who for 10 years had North American freight trains go by like a whisper, or basically no sounds at all. !*don-know!*

DTG should just make his sounds default for all US stock. Even at the remastered levels, they sound SO much better and more realistic than the usual ghost train effect.

I'm assuming Krellnut's latest packs can still be applied in the usual way for the other routes.

Yes, they can although there is not the ability to change the volume or the number of bad wheels like in his packages. I believe this is more aimed at the folks who didn't know about this great sound set. The engine sounds are pretty much new stuff.

I'm very happy that the wagon sounds are now a core item, but I personally don't like how they remastered the pack. So I'm going to continue to use the original pack on all my stock.

Well, I see I'm not the only one that reinstalled the sounds. *!greengrin!*
I even reinstalled the ES44 sounds because they were so low I couldn't hear them over the SD40. The Gevos almost sounded like an EMD unit. I kept hearing something like a turbo instead of a bark.
I've heard enough ES44 in lashups with Dash9s to know they sound very similar, just that the ES44s are quieter. They are still loud though.

There is denser brush in some areas of Sherman Hill now, although it tends to stick out from the hillsides.
I'm never going to look at routes the same way after doing Donner though... *!greengrin!*

I do like the new brakes. !!howdy!!

Yeah I forgot to mention that. It seemed more urban.

There is a new bug. I didn't realize at first, that my fps fell through the floor because the ES44s cab lights are on when a scenario starts.
