Well, I was doing some research on this, and came across this image. Not an AC6000CW (or even a GE product) but it shows a loco with a very high plow, also. Maybe the way DTG depicted this DLC was unusual, but not unprototypical.

I've seen similar nose hatches in models made by other providers, but cannot for the life of me understand their purpose. The scenario editor does not include open or close instructions of any kind. It might be visually interesting to have an idle engine parked somewhere with its nose hatch or other orifices propped open, but I cannot see how this would be possible, since these "features" cannot be pre-set in the editor.
