Columbia Valley Pacific

Unread postby wacampbell » Tue Mar 10, 2015 1:02 pm

I thought the forum might be interested in following my latest route building project. The Columbia Valley Pacific is a fictional west coast mining and logging railroad set in the boundary region between BC and Washington state. My focus is the 1950's but I've made the structures and scenery generic enough to work as far back as 1910 or so. I'll share more of the background story in future posts but I thought I'd start out with some photos taken just outside the community of Odessa Bar along the Coppermine Creek.

A pair of RS-1's lead the local freight across Trestle 22.

The loco's have been lettered for the CVP, with the RWA paint scheme surving as a temporary standin for a CP'esque subsidiary.

The mainline has been laid 34 miles end to end with all scenery dem'd, textured, and vegetated.

Suggestions for improvement are welcome. I am just starting the hard task of detailing the route mile-by-mile. I'd like to hear your thoughts and ideas for elements that can be added to the scenes to make them more realistic and interesting.

That looks really lovely. !!*ok*!! !!*ok*!! !!*ok*!!

Real Pacific Northwest atmosphere.

Are the JC Bauer logging assets still available? These might come in handy for sawmills, camps and such.

Thanks for the comments. I've been hunting around for those Bauer Lumber assets but no luck yet. I wonder if they are part of the C&O Allegheny route which I don't think is available anymore.

For ground textures, I am mostly using Donner Pass, but I've added a dozen or so of my own custom ones also.

Here's a couple more pics of the barely repainted RS-1 units working upgrade east of Odessa Bar.

Hi Wayne;

I have all the C&O Allegheny assets, which include PCBauer assets. I don't believe there is an issue with sharing these. let me know if there is something specific you would like.

Regards, Gerry

I love it!
I'm particularly interested in the light colored ground/rock texture you used on the cliffs in those shots.

Thanks Boss1.

Ericmopar, that texture you're seeing is Donner Pass Rock000. I did brighten it up a bit and added some rust streaks. PM your email if your interested in taking a closer look.
