This is the EMD F59PHI Physics Upgrade pack, TS2015 Edition Version 3.0 (MAJOR UPDATE; Brakes Fixed).
In order to utilize this freeware physics upgrade, you must have purchased the Pacific Surfliner Route Addon available at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/222606/
This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the physics enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose.
THIS IS NOT A SOUND UPGRADE PACK. Physics adjustments made around the existing sounds.
The purpose of this pack is to correct some physics errors in the original F59PHI locomotive. In addition, as of the V3.0 release update, air brake function and performance has been fixed, courtesy of RWA member JohnS. His brake fix contribution is invaluable in improving the operability of the Surfliner train set.
Parameter Change Log: 1. Adjust Braking Effort curve to simulate realism. 2. Adjust amp limits according to EMD specs; Max traction amps = 1550. Max brake amps = 760. 3. Increased weight from 104 tons to a higher weight to simulate fully loaded locomotive and increase adhesion. 4. Decreased fuel capacity from 4800 gallons to 2000 gallons. 5. Air brake parameters on both F59PHI locomotive and Surfliner cab car fixed by JohnS to improve operational performance and address game bugs. a. Brake pipe pressure (brakes released): 110 psi b. Full service reduction: 32 psi c. Brake pipe pressure (full service application): 78 psi d. Brake cylinder pressure (full service application): 65 psi
This pack also includes the option to swap between the 12-710 engine and the 16-710 engine. Specific locomotive parameters: 1. EMD F59PHI original (EMD 12-710G3A-T2; 3200 THP) a. Starting tractive effort of 65,000 lbs (289.1344 kN) b. Dynamic Brake effort of 35,000 lbs (145.64 kN) @ 55 mph c. Wheel horsepower of 2,900 hp (2,400 kW); independent of HEP load d. Increased weight of 120.5 metric tons (265,654.3 lbs) e. Fuel tank capacity of 2,000 gallons f. Maximum speed of 110 mph
2. EMD F59PHI upgrade (EMD 16-710G3C-T3; 4300 THP) a. Starting tractive effort of 68,800 lbs (306.04 kN) up to 21.35 mph b. Dynamic Brake effort of 35,000 lbs (133.446 kN) @ 55 mph c. Wheel horsepower of 3,912.8 hp (2,920 kW); independent of HEP load d. Increased weight of 130.636 metric tons (288,000 lbs) e. Fuel tank capacity of 2,000 gallons f. Maximum speed of 110 mph
IMPORTANT; Install Instructions
1. Open the following directory: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\PacificSurfliner" 2. Then open the "Railworks_F59PHI_Physics_Mod.rar.rar" file. 3. Drag folder from the .rar file into the directory opened in step 1. 4. Overwrite if prompted. 5. The installation should be complete. Run TS2015 to check.
User's Manual: Upon installation, the pack defaults to using the F59PHI (3200 THP) physics. In order to switch physics, follow the steps below:
1. Open the following three directories: a. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\F59PHPack01\RailVehicles\Diesel\F59PH\Simulation" b. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\F59PHPack01\RailVehicles\Diesel\F59PH\Engine" 2. In each of those directories, you will see three folders (one for each set of locomotive physics): a. "F59PHI (3200 THP)" b. "F59PHI (4300 THP)" 3. Once you choose which set of physics to use, open the respective physics folder in all three directories from step 1. 4. Copy (CTRL + C) all files you find in the opened folder located in directory 1a. 5. Proceed back to directory 1a and paste (CTRL + V) the copied files into the directory; overwrite when prompted. 6. Copy (CTRL + C) all files you find in the opened folder located in directory 1b. 7. Proceed back to directory 1b and paste (CTRL + V) the copied files into the directory; overwrite when prompted. 8. If the previous 7 steps were completed properly, the physics swap should be successful; run TS2015 to check.
Thank you for downloading and installing. Enjoy =)
I am having trouble installing this correctly ( I think). the instructions above show the last directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\PacificSurfliner" Is that where the Folder called Rail Vehicles that is obtained from extracting the Mod pack is supposed to go? I am questioning this because in that folder there are only two files > Blueprints.pak and Pacific surflinerassets.ap . If I want the F59 physics, do I have to do anything else? I also have another directory called "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\F59Phpack01, and one for ....RSC/ F59coaster with the same 2 files in it, although the name of he assets is changed. Can I use the same folder in those directories too to modify those locos ?
Anyway, when I carefully follow the directions below , and try to load the first Career Scenario, Riding the Surf Part 1, the sim crashes with a message that it can't load a track.bin . Removing the Rail Vehicles folder from the directory where I placed it, and the Scenario loads with no problem.,

I found out the problem I am having. It is with Version 3 of the mod. I had previously installed version 2 which worked perfectly, but when I read about the brake mod version, I wanted to install it because of issues with the brakes releasing. When I try and start a Scenario with the F59PHI with version 3.0 nstalled, the sim won't load and displays a message " Unable to Load File.... Track.bin" . If I remove the version 3 folder from the appropriate directory and re-install the version 2 folder, the one without the brake mod, the sim starts normally and runs perfectly. I tried this several times to make certain that this was the issue causing the problem. BTW, I have a new Steam install of TS2015, that is only about 2 weeks old, with just a couple of DLC routes that I have purchased.
Can someone help me because when I recently bought the route on steam and when I got onto railworks and tried to do a scenario and finished loading the locomotive didn't show up and the route was just a blue graph. Help please?

It does default to 3200 THP in the Default/Simulation dir. But in the Default/Engine dir 4300 files are the default.
Also in the ND and non-ND version you have various differences between 3200 and 4300. For non-ND version only mass is different. For ND version mass and Ammeter range is changed.
