I've read that if you're infected and sending these messages out you should change your Steam password. Some idiot made it to steal your tradable inventory items. *!rolleyes!*

IGNORE IT!

If you don't click on it, nothing happens. Steam automatically clears chat after time, if on mobile there is a clear conversation button.

This only works because it's a click-bait. Once clicked on, it moves right along to the next fool who clicks it.

If I get messaged twice by the same person, I unfriend them. Solves the problem pretty quickly. If you're really unlucky I delete you outright.

Yep. *!twisted!*

Granted I never have Steam Chat on anymore due to never using it. I still get notifications on my IPhone for Steam messages.

Don't click obvious virus links. That's Internet 101.

If you want to delete the messages without opening it, there should be a tiny (delete) link next to the message. I used that with no problems.

There is another one that does a similar thing through chats. They sent a russian link that translates to something about free steam money. It takes you to a fake steam website where you can download a program. It has the same effects as this one. But when you put the pieces together;
Russian
Free US money
Non official steam site
Downloads .exe file

Then you'll see a few reasons not to download this...
