BIN file editing

Unread postby sparky6060842 » Mon Jan 05, 2015 5:25 pm

I tried to edit the BIN files on a few britkits engines to change the horn using notepad. On all 3 that I tried, RW did not like them anymore (couldn't read file) and I admitted defeat and went searching for the proper way to edit BIN files. I have wondered how to edit BIN files for a long time and hoping someone can tell me how to do it right. Thanks!

I don't' fully understand how to do that, but I think it has to do with the horn or whistle's proxy.xml file. when someone uploads new horn sounds for a particular loco, they always include the proxy.xml.

The first thing I would suggest is using RWTools. That way you always get a .bak file so you can go back easily. As far as the wording it's really important that you carefully follow the syntax when editing. I don't know what else to tell you. Are you just trying to alias the horn to another one?
