Working double shifts again

Unread postby artimrj » Sat Nov 22, 2014 9:21 am

Just so everyone knows what is going on with me, I am working like a dog. We have been so busy this year that we are still cutting orders from September. I still have over 300 orders to fulfill. That leaves me very little time to play here and do my work here. I have 4 days off for Thanksgiving and can catch up on things then. So do not fret, all your files will be uploaded to the file library as I get time to do it. I do not have any of my tools on my work computer other wise I could do some of it from there on my breaks. My boss offered us a bribe as well. If we get everything done by the 23 of December we will get Christmas Eve to January 5th off, paid. And only half a day on the 23rd. There are 15 files in the uploads folder now which I hope to post a few tonight after work. At any rate I will do what I can when I can until this mad dog rush at work is over. I have the best boss in the world. He is the boss that everyone wants. I got a $2500 bonus at the beginning of November for all things that actually got done until then. We are pushing 2300 units so far this year and that is the most our shop has ever done since it was established in 1932. Life is good, if only I had some time to enjoy it more...

possibly a dumb question but what do you actually do? I know it involves stonework but beyond that I draw a blank

I make tombstones. Cemetery Memorials. I do the CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) which means I design the stones. I cut the stencil and apply it to the stone. Then I carve the granite with flowers and birds and Holy figure busts and anything else someone may want as long as it will fit. With the yuppies now in the purchasing market they come up with all kinds of bizarre things to do with a monument. I also do all the specialty work like repairing chips and misspelled lettering not due to our fault. Anything that requires a hammer and chisel I do. Anything that needs polished I do. I am considered a shop mechanic as I do it all. Or you can call me a Journeyman. And that is where I am heading right now.

I can't tell if your making a joke or just picked really unfortunate words to use.

Take it easy Bob, there is no rush around here.
