Help with understanding Blueprints and bin files

Unread postby JohnS » Mon Oct 06, 2014 9:07 am

Hi All, I'm trying to adjust locomotives on the Pacific Surfline Route. I have the air flow working correctly for the most part and the needles on the gauges are correct now. I am having trouble finding a way to add the second red marker light to the front of the F59phi and I also noticed that there isn't a "Distributor" section in the J59 simulation.bin file. Has anyone corrected these little thing or can help me do it myself. I have no problem editing files.

Thanks

John

I'm trying to get the brakes to work properly on the Surfliner F59PHI. Has anybody fixed these?

Hi John,

There is a <Distributor> section in the J59 simulation.bin file? immediately before the <EmergencyBraking> section.

As for the second red marker light on the front of the F59phi, I noticed there was only one child object on the red lamp on the front of the loco. I added a 2nd one on the other red light, but can't work out how to switch both lights on. Only the left hand one (from the drivers position) ever illuminates.

thats the thing I'm trying to figure out. The distributor section is missing. It has <Distributor/> where the line should be. Can I add this section? I believe it would also need a blueprint ID?

Errrr...

Most of Amtrak's commuter push/pull setups (those lines are mostly joint Amtrak and whatever local Gov.) only use one red marker light on the engine.

Before you bother modding something like that, make sure they really use the two red markers on the engine end of the train.

A little known fact, is that most of those push/pull outfits in CA, put the engine on the South end of the train. *!greengrin!*

In Chicago all of the engines are on the outbound end at least on the old Milwaukee and UP routes.

I worked for NJ Transit for some years and we ran our trains push pull and the engines were 9 times out of 10 head out when leaving a terminal so that engines with there HEP running weren't sitting at the Bumper making all kinds of noise. There is a big difference between a Terminal and a Station..

As far as Marker lights I haven't seen any pictures with only one light on the engines. Ours always had two on either trailing end unless one burnt out but I'm on the east coast things could be different on the west

I must apologize. I did some more investigating on the marker lights. There are two lights but only one (on the conductors side) is the newer brighter marker light. So the game only showing one is close enough.

I'm in Nevada now, but I grew up in CA, so I noticed these things. I've seen the evidence on the CA commuter locos in videos and in real life on the Amtrak California Capital Corridor, between Sacramento and San Jose CA.

I just learned something new. The one light is on the engineer's side.
On the conductors side is a "device" for lack of a better term. Is this an E-Bell? Horn? Radar?

This one's "device" is red, but not a light.

I just won't look at it. It doesn't bother me I just thought there was supposed to be two markers.
