Not to belabor the point, but I get vertical tearing in FSX anytime I don't have vsync enabled, and I NEVER see 60+ FPS in that sim, and never see tearing in many games that run above 60 FPS all the time even without vsync enabled, such as WoT. My point is that if he is seeing tearing, he needs to enable vsync to get rid of it.

The ambiance of the shadows are just stunning. Brought a realism to the game world that I honestly never even thought of...

Hi everyone I have a question on the new 3D Clouds. To me when I turn them on it looks weird to me. Here are some screen shots please give me some input. Is this normal when the 3D clouds are turned on. This is my system and settings. ASUS G10C Intel i7-4470 3.40 GHz 8GB Windows 8.1 64bit. NVidia GeForce GTX760 192bit. I am putting one screen shot up with the basic clouds. Here is my Graphics settings in the game. FXAA+8XMSAA- ANTI-ALIASING ANISOTROPIC X8. TEXTURE FILTERING.

Yeah the blue is fog or smog and on the green the darker spots are the shadows from the clouds. 2015 gave us more vibrant colors it seems. You can get rid of the blue by editting your 4 season weather files and reduce the fog layer. I found that info here in the forums and did it onthe Lafayette route.

That's true.
I had turned up "Digital Vibrance" slightly to bring out the colors in the sim in my Nvidia control panel in the past, which made the colors a little too bright when roaming the web sometimes.
When I remembered this, I just turned Digital Vibrance back to it's normal default setting and everything looks better all around. In the Sim and in other places online.

So THAT'S what it is. I couldn't figure out why things looked so much better (at least for me). I also have noticed an improvement in sounds. I guess this upgrade wasn't so "Meh" after all.

Part of the weather system includes the draw distance routines. The new 3D weather themes have MUCH farther draw distances, that's why it looks so different. On Stevens Pass you can see the mountains from almost anywhere on the route. It's pretty cool, but it can actually reveal missing DEM data that you couldn't see before.

Ok...I'm a little stumped here. I wanted to try the 3D clouds with the shadows on other routes. I cloned the scenario free roam Cajon Pass in summer to test it out. I changed the weather to "3D 2. Cloudy". Saved it and ran it. I'm not seeing cloud shadows as best I can tell. I DID see the moving shadows in the Academy. So I cloned and edited the academy scenario (the first SD70MAC one on the list) that I saw the moving cloud shadows in to see why it works there and not elsewhere.

The weather selected THERE is called "3D Cloudy"... NOT "3D 2. Cloudy". I look at the list and "3D 2. Cloudy" is ALSO an option. So I change it to "3D 2. Cloudy" and test it. I can't see shadows moving best I could tell like I could with "3D Cloudy".

So I go back to my cloned free roam Cajon Pass in summer scenario and I'm thinking I'll just change it from "3D 2. Cloudy" to the one I know works..."3D Cloudy". Except "3D Cloudy" isn't even one of the options. Only the numbered 3D ones ("3D 1. Clear", "3D 2. Cloudy", etc etc) are there and that cloudy doesn't seem to cast moving shadows.

I do have Bermúdez's "Cajon Pass with Superelevation" enhancement installed. Not sure if that's a factor. Cloned a Stevens Pass scenario to test and "3D 2. Cloudy" was once again the only option.

BUT.... I cloned a Pacific Surfliner scenario and noticed "PS 3D Cloudy" was an option. The "PS" in the name indicates it's specific to this route. I tried it out and........IT WORKS!!!!

Anybody know why "3D 2. Cloudy" doesn't seem to work? Seems like each route has some weather options other routes don't have... or ....it shares some with other routes. It's weird!

I'm all ears! !*don-know!*

These shots look really good, even in the far distance. Have you changed your settings in some way? If so, how?

I have not changed anything in the settings. Everything is exactly the same as it was in TS2014, except (obviously) "Dynamic lighting" and "Dynamic clouds", which I have enabled.

PS: Here I have also attached some screenshots of the Stevens Pass route with the new 3D weather.

Try the new borderless setting in TS2014 it may alleviate the vsync artefacts.

What does the borderless setting do? I didn't notice any difference with it on. !*don-know!*

UPDATE; Also.... I haven't tried out "3D 2. Cloudy" on all routes yet, but it did manage to work "kinda sorta" on Castle Rock route. I had to elevate the camera to look at the ground to kinda notice it. What I did notice was the shadows weren't rolling or continuous like the 3D shadows normally are. This time, just random momentary ground discolorations that flashed in and out of existence. Almost looked a little Z-buffering flashing-like ......kinda sorta. Best I can describe it.

I'll keep plugging away and testing.

Borderless is Windowed mode without a border it sometimes reduces resources when the video card is being worked hard.
