Because the rest of the forum is supposed to be RR related. Why some of this stuff is posted anywhere in this forum sometimes escapes me.

"General discussion" is for topics related to Railworks.
We don't have an off-topic forum, and "The Jungle" is the closest to that.
We have very few threads that are not at all related to railroading.

Yeah... there is no off topic section and this kinda became it. Maybe we should add one if it bothers people enough. The fact it only gets an off topic thread every now and then instead of being flooded with them, may be why Bob hasn't felt the need for such a section yet.

I asked, because there are some real rule sticklers here and the description of this forum is "Grab a rock, have a seat, and talk about the real world of trains."
It's odd, to me "General" discussion threads are the ones that should be about whatever... Or Off Topic forums.
I don't usually gripe about this stuff, but for some reason, the increasing number of off topic threads, in a forum dedicated to real life railroading is annoying me. !!jabber!!

Off Topic forums are a hoot. You just set the rules at "No Porn, No Politics and No Religion" Period! After that, let the jokes and funny pics etc fly. *!greengrin!*

I imagine that this topic refers to the demonstration of pistol shooting posted to "The Jungle" recently. If so, I fully agree that such a post has no place in any part of this forum. I see it as an example of the lowest form of trolling.

Based on what the boss did to the off topic I will from now on just delete non railroad posts........unless of course they are started by the boss.

I don't know if I like the sound of that. *!!wink!!* So let me defend myself. I post pictures of the War Memorials I make. Everyone always likes them. So I post them when I do one in the American spirit, something that is not too common these days. I have also posted a joke or two, maybe 3. But they involve things like Forum Users... things we are all related to. I use the Jungle forum for that, even though they are not about trains. All my jokes were well accepted and it breaks it up a little.

So we get a 13 year old learning how to shoot. Well as a Marine I was quite impressed with her abilities, but I did wonder how she would act under fire. On a rifle range she is one good shot, in combat she would be a blithering whimpering mess. Like to see her have a banana spider fall on her.

Many and I mean many people complained about the video. Yet the Jungle forum is mainly train wrecks. I, personally have not looked at any of the train wreck vids. Not what I want to see.

I have several other forums and have tried making a "Jokes" forum and a "Don't you just hate it when..." forum and several other renditions and they always failed. They would end up being more work policing them than the rest of the forum. Then their would be all the people that were offended by one thing or another. I have offended people by showing them a tombstone I made. SO to me it is just not worth it.

There will not be an off topic forum here. I use the Jungle, you can too, but if complaints come then it gets deleted, even if I posted it, except I always think about the 300 personalities we have here and what they might think of it or me and if it is borderline, like political or religious, then I just post it to my admins. They know me and how I think from our working together for a few years, so they understand and sometimes agree with my out look. But I don't offend them either.

Blindly deleting any off-topic post is overkill. Members should self-regulate by using their common sense.

I think a post crosses the line when it has no relation whatsoever with RWA.
For example, the thread started by Bob about his hair had nothing to do with trains but related to him and other RWA members.
The girl video had no relation at all with us. Also it was controversial, and controversy is not what we come to RWA for.

Well this went somewhere I wasn't expecting. I'm glad at least some people appreciated her targeting skills. I didn't post it to stir a hornets net. I posted it cuz I found her skills amazing and thought I'd share since off topic items have been discussed before.

Thanks Bob for going the extra mile in explaining your stance. I'm sorry for any headaches in your PM box it may have caused. *!embar*!
