If you go to the List .ap files and click on select all and then the option to extract the RouteProperties.xml and ScenarioProperties.xml files, then StoreThem reads those two files and moves the folders containing the appropriate .ap files back into the Assets folder. There is no need to extract the assets from the .ap files.

One thing I've noticed is that if I have used RW_Tools to switch out some stock on a route like China Clay, when I restore that route, it doesn't necessarily restore the correct assets. The scenario lists the new assets, but I had to manually restore them, checking the scenarios one by one.

Any idea about why that might be?

This is a fantastic tool overall, though. I'll be sending in a donation. Thanks.

This is actually a current limitation of RW_Tools, when you use it to swap rolling stock, it does not alter the ScenarioProperties.xml file as I have not worked out a way to do that correctly. So the substituted items do not appear in the ScenarioProperties.xml file and thus StoreThem does not know about the changes you have made.

I am going to have another look at this, it did not really matter in the past but now it does.

I think one way you can fix the ScenarioProperties.xml file is to go into the TS2014 Scenario editor and move one consist by a few feet, then when you resave the scenario it automatically fixes the ScenarioProperties.xml - I will try to fix this asap.

Okay, I'll give that a try. Thanks for looking in to it.

I have fixed RW_Tools so that it now adds the Provider/Product items to the ScenarioProperties.xml file when you substitute an item of rolling-stock, so this now works OK.

However in the case of existing scenarios where you have made such changes, it will be necessary to go into TS2014 Scenario Editor and use the 'Object Set Filter' button to bring up the list of Providers/Products for the scenario and select the required items, e.g. RSC ES64Pack01 - each rolling stock item in the scenario must have green ticks alongside it for it to appear in the ScenarioProperties.xml file.

I have noticed that some scenarios, including some provided by RSC do not have all of the stock ticked, I don't know how this can happen as you can't select items in the Scenario Editor unless these boxes are ticked. Maybe they use RW_Tools as well? :-)

Mike

I am still puzzled about the scheme for both storing and restoring both the Routes and the needed Assets for the Routes.

If I want to work with just one route at a time; for example, RWA Lakeside, it makes sense to manually Restore "RWA Lakeside" from the Stored Routes. But how does 'StoreThem' determine which Stored Assets should be Restored? Or is that a manual Restore decision as well. So, if I understand, we then would need to know the Assets that the Route requires, correct? And if we discover something does not appear in a running scenario, we must decide which additional assets to Restore, correct? I am thinking in terms of the issue of the missing Kuju couplers discussed by Charliechan above.

Or on the other hand, if we substitute a piece of rolling stock in RW_Tools for another different Stored Assets then that Provider/Product asset must be restored manually as well, correct?

Or is "StoreThem" smart enough to accomplish all of this autonomously?

I locked this thread. Please start new ones with you specific questions, it makes no sense to keep posting stuff in this one thread that was basically an intro to the software.
