Awesome.
Personally I think Carmina Burana is more appropriate as music for an horror movie than a train simulator movie, but hey, to each his own!

Carl Orff's Carmina Burana is a salute to the Goddess Fortuna and therefore to Fate (the title simply means "Songs from Beuern" ("Beuern" is short for Benediktbeuern). Okay, that's already way too much information, but Michael chose the opening, triumphant theme and I think that he has every right to feel triumphant about the VNHRR. A very loose translation of the repetitive Latin lyrics might be, "Roll on you trains, you mighty trains, running to far off places" ... ?

Gentlemen,

Firstly let me say… thank you for enlightened comments.

Carl Orf‘s, Carmina Burana audio track was my second choice. Richard Wagner‘s ‘Ride of The Valkyries’ being the original track.

These selections were considered, because I felt that they both reflected emotions of strength and power. Both of which, in my mind, worked well with the video. The Orf piece won over as the pace of the movement seemed to work better with the pace of the video.

Again… thank your for your progressive interpretations.

That's an exciting amount of expansion to an already great route! What's the approximate distance between Springfield and Hartford?

Probably 24 miles or so from Hartford to Springfield. The track charts I have are from the Conrail period, but they show the Hartford Yard at MP 38 and Springfield at MP 62.

The volume and variety of railroad operations at Hartford in those days will surprise most people, including passenger service from four different directions. The city also looked a lot different before the proliferation of expressways and high-rise buildings, especially along the riverfront. You're in for a treat.

Parkview Hilton comes to 50's era Hartford.
Originally constructed in 1954, remodeled in 1981 and imploded in 1990.
