Yeah - I ran into the same issue. Same fix worked for me with no noticeable problems.

Thanks guys. I'll try that as soon as I get back in-game! *!!thnx!!*

EDIT: Yes, that does work. The thing that confuses me about the fix is that normally, when you go into the Editor and don't make any changes, if you try to save, the Editor tells you that there's nothing to save! So something is going on that I've never seen before. Oh, well. I keep learning new things every day! Thanks to jwtheiv and Diego for the advice! *!!thnx!!*

Tried that as well, Diego. Scenario did start, but the engine didn't want to move. Is the RS3 a bugger to drive?

No it's not usually a problem. Did you give it enough time for the air pressure to bleed down? It takes some time. I've gone to using the engine brake a lot with these locos. And the reason the editor worked is that it fixed the broken consist. I seen that !!det!! in some other scenarios.

Folks,

Be sure to read 'Operating the Engine Brake' instructions in the Equipment Section of the manual.
To be honest... after the adjustments were made, I also found it a bit difficult to adapt to.
Further adjustments were made after that, but I haven't had a chance to get caught up.
It's not the Lap Brake system that you are used to.

In addition to which there is ongoing research about how the brake valves these locomotives used were set up and operated. As a bit of a historic comment, it took locomotive crews some time to pump up a train line at an initial terminal, assuming the yard crew didn't leave it at least partially pumped up in the first place, which they typically didn't. In regular service, road freight crews generally only made brake applications of ten to fifteen pounds - rarely more unless it was an emergency - primarily because of the need to manage slack without breaking knuckles or drawbars. This had the added advantage of offering a full release of the brakes in less time, which was a significant consideration under a variety of operating circumstances.

Ahh, the elusive Pg. 17 tells the tale. (oops, sounding like that Grote character) I haven't been driving in the cab much, relying on the HUD, and I see now it's more than that. No worries. If I said all the other diesels had brakes that all react the same, y'all would kick my fat rear end out of here.

Copied the manual to my desktop for easy reference.

One thing that really amazes me about this route is that, even at 20 to 30 frames, it's smooth as can be. I don't get the stuttering like with most other routes. And the scenery is just too awesome. OK, time for some more exploring! !!*ok*!! !*salute*!

Lots of old engines had the 6BL brake valve which is not self-lapping.
Some have been modeled in RW, like David Brindley's GP7 (a competitor of the RS3, incidentally).
I think VR's RS11 also. I don't remember what others but I know there are some.

I actually like driving with a manual brake like this. It feels more natural - basically you are just operating a simple valve on a compressed air circuit. You charge, you vent or you maintain pressure.

Patience, Grasshopper! Michael is good, but even he can't compress time needed to properly work on a route. I'm salivating too, BTW... !*drool*!

The primary models for the RDC1,2 & 3 are complete. The secondary (LOD) models for the RDC3 are complete.
The primary model for the RDC4 was completed, but my laptop and external B/U were stolen over the holidays. So I'm back to square one on that.
Well... not quite square one, but a setback just the same.

Development of beautiful downtown Hartford is underway as are the nearby rail facilities.
