Extra Numbers On Side of Cab - How Do You Get Rid Of?

Unread postby mysterytrain » Tue Jan 14, 2014 5:43 pm

For some reason, some (not all) of mainly my SD40-2 and ES44AC engines have began having the number 3210 in large white text pasted on top of the engines actual number on the side of the cab. There's also some engines that have a box underneath the side-cab window that says "missing text." I've attached some photos showing you what I mean.

Could someone please tell me how to correct these errors?

Thank you.

It should be corrected by the repaint up loader or you didn't bring them in properly. The numbers.dcsv needs edited along with the Number.TgPcDx s found in the texture of the locos.
Forget all that for now!
When you place the loco on the track, double click on it to bring out the flyout on the right of the screen.
You'll see the info box with the loco number in it. Change to a 3 or 5 digit number or make it all xxxx's and the number you don't want to see will go "poof" and disappear.

I'm hoping this will help.
I've run into this when installing a skin that has it's own number painted on, and the auto number system writes it's own number over that.
My solution was to double click the loco in the scenario editor and set the loco number to 0. Zero seems to be off with the auto number system.
I keep thinking it's something like #0# or *0* sets the auto numbering to off for that loco.

What I said is true, but I didn't see XDriver's post until after.

The numbers.dcsv for the loco is set for the default number on the loco. The SD40-2 has 4 digit number. If you change that number to anything other than a 4 digit number, it will not show. the numbers.dcsv is set to the model of the loco. If it's a loco that uses a 3 digit number than the same will apply as anything put in there other than a 3 digit number will not show. Make sense?
This is just a work around. The said number textures and or the numbers.dcsv along with some proper loco bin editing would cure the dreaded auto number to show on a loco that has a repainted permanent number. **!!2cents!!**

I'll try to remember that next time.

Guys I did what you said, I opened up the fly out box on the right side of the screen and tried entering 0 or XXXX and nothing happened *!sad!* .

I've had these engines in use for almost a year now and this problem only began a week ago.

I'm a "novice" and not very technical savvy (as you can see) *!embar*! .

BTW, when I open that fly-out box, there's this longgggg row of text that contains different numbers and letters. Do I have to replace every text item with a 0 or an X?

Did you put #0# and hit enter? When you change stuff in the right flyout, a person usually has to hit enter afterwords.
Sorry, should have mentioned that. *!embar*!
BTW it might be star0star I haven't done that for awhile.

You can substitute Michael Stephan's invisible numbers for the original number textures. It might require you to rename Michael's files but it works.

Yes I did. Actually, I tried it once with #0# press enter (no change), then tried it with *0* press enter (no change). *!sad!*

I also tried to enter XXXX, "XXXX", *XXXX* and still no change. *!sad!*

I tried adding those numbers files to the texture folders of the engines I'm having the problem with, and it did not help; still putting that extra number on top of the original number.

Did you rename the numbers files to match the numbers in your Textures folder?

I had the same issue. Here's how to fix it. You are missing 3 files.

1) c/p from Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\RailVehicles\Diesel\SD40-2\Def2\Engine\sd40_2_Def2_numbers.dcsv to your engine folder.
2) c/p from Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\RailVehicles\Diesel\SD40-2\Def2\Engine\Textures\SD40-2_Def2_Digits.bin to your engine\texture folder.
3) c/p from Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\RailVehicles\Diesel\SD40-2\Default\Engine\Textures\SD40-2_Digits.bin to your engine\texture folder.

Note "Default" in step 3.

Then do XDrivers procedure above (ie: renumber your engine to "0").

You should already have these files. In my above post "c/p" means copy and paste (from ----> to). Do you know how to do that? If not, I don't know if I am allowed to share those files but if you give me your email then we can "discuss" it further.
