A $10 subscription seems more than reasonable considering all this place has to offer in return.

I would certainly be open to a subscription fee. RWA is worth the investment. I say start working in this direction asap.

For literally a few pence (cents) a month I think it's a bargain Bob.

A bargain at twice the price. Count me in.

Bob has to pay for this whole site all by himself or people will start taking their stuff out of the library?

I don't know if your serious or not. I for one will not pull out my stuff if a fee is required. Even though my stuff is only available here now, if a fee is required to keep the site up, then that's what it is.

Hi Bob

Once you do start the well-planned move, if you know the new IP address and let us know, we could access via the IP address to avoid the DNS change propagation delay.

Whatever it takes to keep this forum active, I certainly will help in whatever way I can. If it's a subscription fee, I have no problem with it. As others mentioned, the small amount asked for is far outweighed by the information and help available.

Oh yes please do this.
And good luck with the move. We're all counting on you.

I"m pretty sure I read words to that effect. I think some people must be confusing keeping the site going so we can continue to get free stuff with making money. *!rolleyes!*

@NKWhisky,
I think I understand whats happened here. I thought you wrote that in your first post. After reading what you and Chris wrote, I realize someone else wrote it. You didn't put it in a quote bubble which led me to think you wrote it, my mistake. Sorry.

If just half the members pitch in at $5.00 a year there will be more than enough funding to support the sites that Bob has undertaken and have some left over for upgrades and improvements. I was paying $30.00 a year for a FS premium privilege for several years, 5 is a real big bargain for what you get. Way to go Bob. Thanks again for all you do.

Well we are having a hard time finding a module for handling quotas. In fact we found none. It would appear that most people who use Joomla are either dealing in mainly documents or they are a store. No one really has a download site like RWA. The module I use for the file library was $25 and it is for documents. I made it be for files. All it does it keep track of how many downloads each user has completed. It does not track anything else.

The only other things we keep finding are modules to charge for a download, by the file. Which is of course for some one who is running a store. I will be purchasing one of these for the donationware as that will free me up for emailing individuals with links, you will be able to pay and download on your own. That's $50 for the module.

I am also looking at another module that will sync phpBB and the web site. Meaning if it works the way I think it is. Anyone who is registered in the forum will be registered to the site with the same name and password. Anyone joining the site will also be joining the forum and vice versa. This is $80. It does other things too. Like integrate the forum right into the web site and also be able to post threads or single post on the site as references. Some of these programmers are awesome in what they come up with.

So I may be talking with someone to program the downloading protocol I want. I may even attempt to program one myself. I have completed several projects in my past using php. I also have several brilliant friends who make me look like an amateur.

All of this will take some time, so we will just carry on as normal once the new site propagates. There is $210 still in the kitty. I have money I have been sitting on for a new computer but can't justify buying another one yet. If the donationware that is coming is a big hit as I think it will, I may not even have to do subscriptions. What this really means is nothing is going to happen for 5 to 6 months. I will keep the site going with any donations that come in filling in with my own money and Buzz will come to the rescue if need be.

The only thing that may happen soon is everyone will have to log in to the site to access the file library. But the bridging software will set it up for all of you so it should be a breeze.
