Excellent. Am I right: these are single diesel units which have been used for suburban service?

Thanx guys!!

I imagine that ‘Inter City’ would probably be a more appropriate term. The NHRR used to run them up and down the New Haven/Springfield corridor. They used them elsewhere as well… I just don’t know where specifically.

Typically they were used as single units, but could be run in multiples. The NHRR tried pulling (at least one) light weight passenger car(s) behind the power unit, but Budd caught wind of the practice and was going to void the warranty if the NHRR didn’t cease.

In the early sixties I used to watch them run through Windsor Locks from my high school class rooms. I probably would have been a better student if I hadn’t been day dreaming about the railroad.

Later, Bob

Believe it or not, the Western Pacific ran dual RDCs from Oakland, CA to Salt Lake City, UT on its secondary train, the Zephyette *!rolleyes!* --light years from the California Zephyr with its mulitple domes!!

Via Rail ran two unit RDCs on a commuter train on Vancouver Island Canada for years. Tillamook County, OR has three that they use for a tourist run up the Oregon coast. I've seen them used in many places.

Very nice work so far!

Just an update... still a work in progress, but nearing completion. The interior(s) are done, the undercarriage has been pretty much brought up to spec (some minor detailing still), three body shells are complete (RDC-1, RDC-2 & RDC-3... RDC-4 requires the body to be shortened... a mail/baggage unit only)...

What will this be, payware, or freeware.

Doesn't really matter which, just curious.
