I don't own the route yet, so for anyone who does own the route, quick question - How decent are the sounds on the F59PHI and the cab-car? Hope they got that K5LA right!

Woody told me his recordings sounded amazing and that they're the best the world could ever have and that we should be thankful we have him. *!greengrin!* !*roll-laugh*! !*roll-laugh*! !**duh*!!

I cannot comment on the fidelity of the horn as I have never been near any US train. It sounds a bit tinny and perhaps could use a little more echo/reverb past the sustain phase for it decays rather quick.

I think the cab occlusion is just right for these modern loco and cars, switches, knobs, handles and levers all provide audio feedback. Outside sounds are good IMO as well. Flange squeal, clickety clack, rolling sound, it is all there and in the right relative loudness to my ears.

The locomotive is probably sound insulated so not as loud as the average freight engine from the outside. It has this typical turbo hiss/whine when accelerating that I find very prototypical.

Hack and other Californians who have been around the real trains will probably comment later and more accurate.

All in all I am pleased with my new full price buy.

While the cabcars are whisper quiet, the F59PHI is a rattle trap. There's nothing quiet to speak of - everything from wind noise, squeaks, squeals and engine roar combine to make quite a racket - even with a sound partition! It's been nearly 10 years since I've been in one, and I'm sure they've only gotten louder approaching their end-of-life with Amtrak. !**duh*!!
Cheers!

As such, the locomotive I recorded was plenty rattly. Especially in Run 2 and Run 8 where the resonance of the engine RPMs seems to make everything shake and rattle at once.

@ Tim. It should do that, yes.

There seem to be some new flat cars at least.

I'm using my raildriver with the F59PHI and for some reason my train brakes just won't work when I'm using the handle. Do any of you know what the issue could be?

Running fine here. A few comments from my 3 tutorial runs using both sets of new content:

1. The first training scenario for the BNSF ES44 is faulty (at least on my run). The tutorial doesn't mention that you need to set the switches, so you are shunted to the wrong track by default & run into another consist.
2. The horn seems a little quiet from inside the cab, as others have mentioned. Also a little flaky in terms of start / stop glitches, but that could be due to my frame-rate
3. The route looks great, though runs at almost half the frame rate of other routes on my hardware. I'm getting roughly 15fps where others are around 30fps with same settings. Still playable, but folks with marginal hardware might want to beware.

That's it for now. Will need to spend time with the career scenarios to get more impressions...

I've really enjoyed my first run...my one issue though is that I can't hear the bell from inside the F59PHI (I can hear it fine from inside the cab car).
