That was a bit underwhelming. I guess we wait until 10AM to see what else appears.

Drive Embark on a fun and rewarding career as a train driver, enjoying a realistic driving experience by travelling up to 300km/h on routes that can stretch for over 200km

You mean the career mode that no one uses?

Featuring a new and intuitive user interface, it’s now easier than ever before to jump on board and start your train-driving career.

Translation: More Fisher-Price interfaces.

An enhanced Career Mode allows players to chart their progress through the game more easily, earning points that can lead to medals and other rewards and achievements.

Am I the only one who plays video games to actually play the video game? Not to collect virtual prizes and rewards that no one in the real world cares about?

A number of graphical improvements to this year’s product, including more detailed draw distances, new camera systems and added headlight flares will ensure that players can enjoy the most realistic train simulation experience to date.

So...more superficial graphics upgrade. Fan-tastic.

So let's see, nothing on improving AI or Dispatch (which is what is sorely needed), no upgrades on physics, probably won't utilize 64 bit and no Multiplayer.

Yea, sorry RSC, but this isn't what we wanted. !*not-ok*!

I guess I will go for the other side of the coin. They said they'll be announcing things often leading up to the actual release date. There quite a few days between now and the end of September. I think more will come up that will make people happy.

Not to mention, people have said that headlights should practically blind you! !!howdy!!

Lastly, it's free!

I'm excited.

I had high hopes. Quite the let down, really. I don't understand why RSC doesn't listen to us... oh well. New camera's and headlights should be pretty cool. Now the question is. Will we be able to apply this new headlight technology to our older engines like the Marias Pass ES44DC or the NS heritage ES44's? Or will it be like the 2013 textures that have to be practically hacked to edit. !*not-ok*! Sorry, Buzz. I know you don't like negative responses, but I'm really not impressed by what I see so far.

Honestly, I think negativity is warranted at this point. This is the second year in a row that RSC hasn't really delivered anything that their customer base wanted. Last year it was Fisher-Price interfaces and XBox Controllers. Quick Drive was okay I guess. This year, it's more Fisher-Price Interfaces, an enhanced career mode, never mind the fact that no one uses career mode, and superficial graphics upgrade. If we keep going on like nothing is wrong and that we'll take whatever table scraps RSC will give us, then they'll keep giving us the same crap year after year.

We, as a community know what we want in a train sim, and maybe it's time to take RSC to task on the features that we do want, as opposed to just being complacent with whatever they give us.

"Richard Elkin - checking details it mentions you can share routes with steam workshop? and looks like more achievements as well, if I read that correctly"
"RailSimulator.com - You did indeed read that correctly"

That's a pretty big change, I'd say.

For myself I would have liked to see better performance in regards to using multiple cores and taking better advantage of GPU power.

I for one am happy that Railworks keeps getting any improvement at all. As much as we aren't getting exactly what everyone wants at least we aren't getting a broken application dumped on us and then abandoned.

I suppose if people are as upset as they sound in this thread then I don't understand why they are even buying it. If I didn't like it - I wouldn't buy it.

Train Simulator takes me back to having a model railroad as a child. I don't have the space or time to build a model railway right now however Train Simulator I get the ability to play with trains and I can use it simply as a replacement for a model railway or I can play some of the more complicated DLC and run it as a simulator.

I was happy with upgrade to TS2013 and I think I will be happy with TS2014. Did we get everything we wanted... no. However it keeps improving and I expect it will continue to improve.

This is a simulator. (Or was). Now it's turning into more of a GAME. I don't agree with RSc right now, but they have really lost our interest in most of this whole community.

There's a difference between meaningful upgrades, and upgrading for the sake of upgrading. What RSC has done for the past two years is the latter. Honestly, I think the yearly upgrade is what preventing them from putting forth anything meaningful. If the AI, Dispatch, Physics, and Multiplayer are all related to the core game engine and requires more work on it than what can be done in a year...then skip the upgrade for a year, take a couple of years to really get into the TS engine and work on something that the community actually wants.

Or even have multiple development teams working at the same time. Sure, the core updates we all would like to see will probably take a couple of years to do but the sooner they get started the sooner they catch up to today's tech.

Only thing I'm disappointed with is the interface. I didn't like the update to it last time, and I'm not looking forward to it now. Just leave it alone if it's not broken !*hp*!

I'm pretty happy. Why is that you ask? Well it's because I don't depend very much on RSC to improve most of the stuff that it takes to make this a very good immersive experience. It takes a fair amount of knowledge and work to get all the third party stuff to work but it sure is rewarding when you get it all cooking just like you want. Reading the forum day after day I have come to a few conclusions about a lot of the complaints about the sim and there is nothing without starting over that RSC can do I don't think. The solution to an awful lot of the issues people have is more computing power. Period. Since I built my last machine the game is stable, never crashes when I am in game and only rarely when I am stopping and starting the session when I'm painting. I am not a route builder so I can't comment on that but when adding scenery I never have a problem. I wish the thing would tell you more when it doesn't like something you have changed but I have learned to make small changes so I can "undo" easily if it gets unhappy.

I hope the headlight fix is a good one.
