timetable editor, static consist clash warnings

Unread postby gonarch » Wed Jul 17, 2013 6:41 am

in timetable editor i have many static consist clash warnings... does not prevent me from running the scenario, but would like to know what these warnings try to tell me and what i would need to do?

Nothing, ignore it. If you know your path is good, you can ignore it. It is telling you that you could "possibly" run into a consist on some siding. If you drive down that track you will, chances are you are not going down that track. Sometimes you get the warning when you only have the consist you are picking up out there.

If a bunch of consists (cars only) are sitting on some sidings the timetable may see them since it looks at everything up to the next signal(s). You can eliminate the clash of trains by setting a signal facing toward where you engine is. The that engine will not see the cars since they are behind the signal in what is called a different signal block. But, unless you are into fiddling with signals it is best, as mentioned, to just ignore the clash warning. They are valid only if you intend to drive down a siding with cars on it.

yes understood... i am limited to scenarios (by choice of course), and therefore so i dont think i can add signals as these are in the route... but yes my position is that routes are seriously lacking in signals and furthermore correct signalizations and this makes things very difficult indeed... thx

As Bob said, just ignore "static consist clashes". They're nothing but a nuisance. Yesterday, for example, I placed a rack of static cars on a yard siding, just as visual filler for the scenario I'm currently working on. Just for laughs, I clicked on the "warnings" triangle, which had displayed an empty box before I placed those cars. Suddenly, there were more static consist clash reports than the box could hold. By the way, whatever happened to the scroll bar that used to be available in that box? Perhaps its elimination signals RSC's admission that "scc" warnings have no meaning or purpose?

By the way, I've noticed that placing any piece of rolling stock other than an engine + driver typically causes at least one "scc". Having that piece or consist picked up by an engine, especially the player engine, will remove the "scc", but having it dropped off somewhere else will bring back one or more "scc" warnings associated with it. What on earth "clash" means in these warnings is beyond me.
