Fonda NY derailment aftermath

Hey guys! I went to Selkirk yard today, and was pleasantly surprised to see and photograph the 3 derailed engines in the pictures that have been circulating the internet and being used for memes. Check it out! They don't look to be in too bad a shape.

Remarkably, they're in pretty good shape! If there are ANY stupid comments about CSX on this thread, please feel free to remove them, Buzz.

Hmm. It looks like it caught fire.

Maybe, it hit a gasoline truck and it splashed on it and caught on fire somehow. !**duh*!!

No. It was buried in a mud bank. Word has it that the entire derailment was due to a sinkhole opening.

could have been just a shoe print from one of those giant guys from the CSX simulator....sorry couldn't help myself, that simulator is just soooo bad.

but considering what these locos went through they are in fairly good shape.

On a more interesting note. Take a look at the addition to that Dash 8s radiator assembly for split cooling! BNSF and CN have been doing this too. Supposedly the C41-8Ws that ATSF and CNW got came stock like this and it allowed the engine to produce 150 more horsepower.
Of course with CSX, I'm sure they only have them putting out 3000 horsepower anyways.

The damage to the SD70 looks to be nearly all cosmetic she should be rolling again in revenue service sometime relatively soon.
