Yeah, I own most of the U.S. routes and this one is noticeably better. It responds very well to turning on the Antialiasing-Transparancy in my Nvidia control panel to "Multi Sample". That really brings out the textures in rock faces, tree trunks etc.
It's funny, I wasn't going to buy it, but now I spend a tremendous amount of time there, and using the included ES44s to upgrade my retail version of Cajon Pass.
A person would be a fool not to buy the package with the BN and BNSF SD40-2s. It's a great combo, especially with Simmer4's sound pack in the SD40s.
New build. i7-7700k, MSI Z270 Gaming M5 Mobo, Hyper 212 Evo, Corsair DDR4 3200 Mhz RAM, Klipsch Pro Mediea 2.1 Speakers, Samsung 850 Evo SSD, HAF XM Case, Asus Strix GTX 1070 and Cooler Master Storm XT Keyboard.
Slick with Pretty Rainbow Colors.

I finally bought the combo. Looks great so far.

What's with the dynamic brakes on the ES44?
Using the keyboard, they seem to be off at -12%, setup is at 0%, after that I have to hold the "." key so they stay at 2% for a few seconds. If I release the "." key they drop back at 0%. After a few seconds, suddenly they jump up and my train whacks me in the back.
Is it just me or does it do that for everyone?

Try using the handle in cab for the initial setting of the dynamic brake. After that it seems to behave like it should.

I found that you must hold the 2% DB setting for a full ten seconds with the Throttle at Zero before the DB control kicks in. You can hear the DB whine after that delay time as you begin to engage the controls. It took me a while to figure that out. Now the DB works as advertised.

Thanks guys.
The instructions do mention using the brake handle in the hud, but I was hoping I could do this with the keyboard. I usually don't use the F4 hud.
I wonder why they don't simply have a SETUP position on the DB handle.

I still don't understand the -12% indication though. Maybe a bug in the script or the blueprint.

I was talking about the handle in the cab, has nothing to do with the HUD. I believe if memory serves that 12% is notch one on the DB.

The Comma and the Period are the Keyboard Commands for decrease and increase DB application.

Throttles I have similar to Raildriver helps me more to control the train. Keyboards can really mess you up.

They don't work very well with the ES44 for Marias Pass, for the reason explained above.

Finally pulled the trigger on the Marias-SD40 twin pack, as well as the GP38-2. I enjoy the improved rolling stock and my first impression of the route itself is very very good, I'll have to explore it a bit more over the weekend and hopefully start making some scenarios for the Workshop soon! However I'm not too fond of the odd cell-shaded look the ES44 and SD40-2 have, horns are still not great, and the GP38's horn doesn't even seem to have an end loop, it just cuts off. I also really don't like how half the scenarios are 'engineer training' -Thanks RSC but I don't need to learn 5 times that the blue knob in the HUD is the reverser- but that's what the Workshop is for anyway so no big deal. Aside from that I'm pleased, not a bad deal at all for $40 total considering the amount of time I'll get back out of it. Now my collection is finally complete and I can stop spending money on this game! Unless they release another SP or NS route
