PRR Steamer

Unread postby plicpriest1 » Sat Sep 07, 2013 3:22 pm

Hay all
I am looking at purchasing the PRR steam locomotive. Have a few questions though!
1. Is there cab lighting?
2. Are there all of the valves in the cab clickable to do the operations myself (injectors, blowers, dampers, etc.)?
3. Is it easy or hard to drive?
4. Would yall recommend it for purchase?

Thanx much

Which PRR steamer??
I thought the K4's came with Horseshoe Curve? If you are talking about Mike Rennie's consolidation; without a doubt. Best steam model there is...

!*cheers*!

Ahhh right you are.
Im talkin bout the K4. I have the consolidation already! Talk about spot on. Anyways lookin to get the K4 but im hesitant about the cab lighting. Im afraid of having it like the big boy or challenger (never did find a light switch). Tough to click the knobs and such to drive the locomotive if I cant see or find them *!!wink!!* .

The cab light does not switch on or off. It is just an ambient light that makes seeing the controls possible! It an extremely nice piece of hardware!

How does this ambient light compare to that of the big boy? Is there any form of instrument backlighting?

Speaking of ambient light, is it possible to modify the locomotive files to up the lighting on some of my other locomotives. I haven't driven the challenger or bigboy for a while because I just cant see enough inside!!!

The K4 is a real nice engine, other then the fact that it's missing a speedometer, I have it but figuring your speed can be difficult without using the F4 button.

Brian, maybe you should play with your monitor settings, such as brightness. Could explain why you cannot see anything in certain locomotives.

The ambient light is enough to see the gauges and knobs to work the locomotive, they are not backlite though. The results may very due to ones graphical settings and monitor settings too, but I personally have no view issues in any train in TS.

I thought I read some where that they did not actually have a speedo in real life... I may be wrong though.

Picture worth a thousand words. Seems to be plenty of light.

Nice pics, Guess Ile get that one next.
Ile have to play with my monitor settings, but all my other locomotives have decent ambient lighting. I dont suppose there is any way to go into the files and boost the ambient lighting, is there?

THanx much
