reverser and regulator not showing in cabview

Unread postby selkirkfan » Sun Mar 01, 2009 3:56 pm

I am working on the cabviews for my 4-4-0 and 2-8-0 engines. In the 4-4-0 cabview the regulator and reverser show as they should. In the 2-8-0 cabview the regulator and reverser levers don't appear until I press the"A" key and the"W"key. I use 3dcanvas and have both cabviews with levers, guages etc set up the same in the hierarchy.Once I press the appropiate key there is no problem all the time I am using them. **!!bang!!** This only happens when I initialy load the game.Does anybody have any suggestions.

I have seen this happen before. Are your reverser and regulator modelled in their respective 'neutral' or 'off' positions? When the sim loads, it loads all parts to their as modelled positions, when you hit a key for a control however, the control then jumps to the starting position as defined in the blueprint. A good example is a reverser has been modelled in 'neutral' but the blueprint instructs it to start at full-forwards. When the game loads the reverser will visually be at neutral, but the loco - when pressing F5 - will be in forwards. Hit 'W' and the reverser jumps to the forwards position.

In 3dC is the starting animation frame in the correct location? Ie, check that the controls pivot isnt further forward than it should be at the starting point.

Not sure if this will help at all, just a couple of things I have noticed when working on cabs.

Hi Stefan
That certainly is food for thought, but the contols work properly.I have both engines setup and animated the same way.the problem I have with the 2-8-0 is that the reverser and regulator levers are not visible until I press the "W"or "A" key or the "D" or"S" key. Before I do that I press the F5 key and it shows the reverser in neutral position and the regulator is in the off position. When I press the "W" or "A" key then the 2 levers are visable and in the correct position. The F5 screen also shows them in the correct positionIt. It is realy weird because in the 4-4-0 the regulator and reverser levers are visable as soon as I go into the cabview.. !*hp*! .
