Hello

Steam Sounds Supreme are established, UK based, steam sound specialists. We produce highly realistic sounds for steam locomotives. Our desire is for steam fans to be immersed in the glorious sounds of steam. Naturally, we have focused on UK steam to begin with.

I have, however, always been a fan of the Union Pacific Big-Boys and Challengers. We would really like to produce a sound pack for the UP Big Boy to really bring it to life.

The big question then is this: Can anyone here point us in the right direction for sourcing sounds for US steam locomotives, specifically the Bigboys and Challengers? Travelling over the 'pond' to record the Challenger is out of the question sadly.

Any help you can offer, please visit www.steamsoundssupreme.com and use the Contact Us form.

Many thanks

Kind Regards
Matt@SteamSoundsSupreme
Alan

My railway photos are back - you can access them from this thread viewtopic.php?f=24&t=21667a . Lots of UK steam and early diesels from the late 1950s and early 1960s.

I've actually been around the UP3985 Challenger, and frankly the sounds in the Challenger V2 DLC are really close.
I've seen this engine in CA more than once over the years attending rail fairs and blasting down the main. The only thing that really needs work is the whistle on that one.
That and the chuffs under load and the "clanking" of the rods needs to be just a bit louder. But the actual sounds are pretty much dead on. In fact I'm guessing they are the actual sounds for a Challenger.

To get an idea, all you need to do is go to YouTube and search UP3985 and UP844.
New build. i7-7700k, MSI Z270 Gaming M5 Mobo, Hyper 212 Evo, Corsair DDR4 3200 Mhz RAM, Klipsch Pro Mediea 2.1 Speakers, Samsung 850 Evo SSD, HAF XM Case, Asus Strix GTX 1070 and Cooler Master Storm XT Keyboard.
Slick with Pretty Rainbow Colors.
