Problems with Win-7 and PSP

Hi Guys, for years I was able to edit TGPCX files easily using RW Tools and Paint Shop Pro 7. The Nvidia DDS utilities worked like a charm. I have recently purchased a new computer running Win-7 and nothing works. Some Nvidia plugins work and some don't. None have the option to specify then number of Mipmaps when saving. As a result, when I use the "Use existing Mipmaps" option, my TGPCX graphics do not save properly and have multiple images.
I have done an extensive search on Google and have found no real help. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I can't help with your problem, but I'm wondering why you don't take advantage of the offer from Adobe and use the link above for Photoshop CS2 for free ?

I use both, as PSP has a few features that are easier to use than Photoshop. However, that doesn't address your question - I'm still on XP, so of little help.

Is the plug in different for PSP than for CS2? It seems to me that there was a place to specify the number in there. I have to look when I get home.

Fair answer
If buzz456 does not come up with a solution I''ve still got PSP v9.0 on disc so I can clone a drive and take a look and see what it does for me , I only have the latest nVidia plugin though.

Yeah, I know, I had it installed up until 12 months ago,it was just a query.
There's no one package that does it all, I do like to mix the many excellent features in Corel Painter with the somewhat bloated ( imho ) Adobe offering.

Do you not see this window after you say save as. You must say save as not just save.

Buzz, I have an Nvidia window that opens on save, but it does not look like yours. There are three options: use existing mipmaps, generate mipmaps, and no mipmaps. It does not allow me to specify the number of mipmaps like my older version did. Can you tell which version of DDS Utilities you are using?

The version is indicated on the header of the plugin window in the above screen.

I have installed Adobe Photoshop CS2 and the latest Nvidia DDS Utilities. I tried copying the Adobe File Formats Plug-ins folder to my Paint Shop Pro folder. Unfortunately, I got the following error message when trying to save a DDS file: "This plug-in requires Adobe Photoshop 3.0 or later functionality." Does this mean I need to revert to an older version. Photoshop CS2 seems to work with the plug-ins.

No, just means you can't use anything older than PS 3.0. I'm still using version 6.0 from around 1999~2000 (me too lazy to try anything newer

). However, why are you trying to save in DDS format in the first place, rather than PSD, ACE or TGA? There are easier means to convert those files than using RW_Tools, which works fine for some folks, but is somewhat overkill for the task at hand.
