Unread postby buzz456 » Sun May 19, 2013 6:05 pm

I just want everyone to know that these are completlely done by the talent of XDriver including the sounds and whistles, bell by Railfan587. I only beta tested and packaged this latest stuff so all credit needs to go to Joe. For all of you frustrated that you don't have these lovely creations bug RSC to get them back on the DLC list.
!*cheers*!

We should have like 50 people send a message all at once to RSC about the G-Trax assets to go back on steam. *!greengrin!* !*roll-laugh*!

Why does anyone think this would be not encouraged by RSC? They don't need to do anything other than put the file up. It's all 2013 compliant.

No Buzz, that's not the point. Some people want the GTraX steamers back, and a repaint just isn't going to encourage that. For RCS to consider this, there must be some $$$ behind it.

I understand but I don't understand thinking it would take 500 people to make them decide to put a file back up that requires almost no work. And make them some revenue.

Because it does take effort. They need to pay someone to stage the files on the steam system, then test it. I can speak about this because I have been a release engineer in my career, and its more than copying a set of files from one file server to another.

Also remember once they release the files, they are libel for them. Any bug fixes or changes that must be made have to be done by someone. Its hard to measure that in man hours since its an unknown. The best way to combat that is to take the models from G and run them through the Dev/QA/Release lifecycle and when everyone has signed off on them, post them for sale. That takes a lot of money, and has to be budgeted at some level, but its what will give the best payout in the long run.

Whatever, the world of 2013 making things way more complicated than they need to be. I'm sure glad that I don't let that happen in our company We'd be out of business in six months.

Actually things are getting simpler. If I compare the methods of making software from 15 years ago to today, it takes a lot less time and money to push a product out.
