SD70M widows help!

I am making a UP SD70M and it's done but I've seemed to forget that the UP's SD70M didn't have any front door widows. I've looked and looked for a way to retexture or delete that window. If anyone can help, thank you.

Forgive me for being forward,and especially if i'm wrong, but something seems amiss here.

If you went to all the trouble of making this locomotive, meaning you had to build it with a modeling program and then have enough skill to use a fairly sophisticated image editing program to paint it, should you not have enough skills to remove that window?

It would seem all you would have to do is re-open your raw image files, delete the offending window, save the image file as an Ace, then re-export your model from Railworks Asset Editor, no?

My bad I didn't say i reskined this locomotive from a SD70MAC. I need to find the TgPcDx file that has this texture, problem is I can't find it anywhere!

I don't think it's possible to remove that window since more likely you don't have the original model file the developers used to make it. Since that window is set into the main model itself and can't be removed without rebuilding the physical model from the ground up.

The only way would be to build a brand new model of your own. Perhaps experiment with 3D Crafter and SMMDigital's locomotive tutorial could help you through the process.

Unfortunately, for your repaint, there's not much you can do about the window, will just have to leave it.

It depends.

If the Window has its own texture file, and its not shared with any other window, then yes you can paint over it. I have not looked at the 70M so I don't know if this is the case or not.

You could create a small scenery item in a 3D modelling program then add it as a child object to cover the window.

Actually, I have done something like this to cover up the rear number boards on the Y588 up in the library. If you end up not finding the texture, I may be able to make a 'cover' for you. But my to-do list is pretty long at the moment, it may take awhile for me to get to this.

Well I can make simple 3D objects like this, I also know how to add child objects, but I'm not good at moving the objects around on the locomotive.

That's the trick. For the Y588 I positioned the angle in 3DC rather than fuss with the child matrix.

That's a good idea, but what is the angle on the windows of the sd70mac, also what are the dimensions.

I had to guess and a ton of trial and error when I did mine. I would say start with a 1' x 1' face (cube with all but one side deleted), then scale bit by bit. The angle is very shallow, maybe start with 5deg.

I have photoshop and thats what i use for all of my reskins. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "tinting" the window on the locomotive is a solid shade you can't see through it.

Clear what up? my problem is not tinting its painting over or deleting that window, I can texture or paint no problem, I just cant find where that widow is located.
