Setting up rolling stock hierarchy in 3d Crafter

Unread postby SAR704 » Mon Nov 07, 2011 7:43 pm

What is the correct way to set up the rolling stock hierarchy in 3d Crafter? With track, it seems quite simple in that you only have to name a few things, add the correct shaders, and create the blueprint. But rollingstock seems to be a little bit more complex. I'm using version 8.27

Basically, my wagon has bogies at each end, and 8 wheels overall, with knuckle couplers.

Do I need to set specific shaders for certain parts of the wagon?

Do any parts need to be a child of another?

Do I need to specify any parts manually in the Rail Sim custom field?

At the moment, my wagon won't even appear in the sim, so I get the idea that something is drastically wrong. I intend to do a simple wagon to get an idea of how everything interacts with the other, but I'm still not 100% sure on how I need to set up. I've followed the manual in the deverloper docs as closely as possible, and it seems to be lacking some critical information.

You could take a look at this >> http://uktrainsim.com/filelib-info.php? ... leid=19166 << and probably search the relevant forums over at UKTS . Other possibilities would be a chat with GreatNortherner or dick8299 or maybe a PM to Richard Scott who now posts here , all appear to have Crafter and Railworks well in hand .

Use the Train Simulator Wizard plug in and it will set up the hierarchy for you.
