GE44ton QMI-14, a new prototype from the paint shop

Unread postby QcRail » Thu Jan 25, 2024 5:47 pm

Our young new painter is working on a new design.

QMI-14-1.jpg

The new logo has chosen a maritime theme, where the round like port-hole has the Queen Mary in motion, However our young designer is unsure
about the engine top cover, to be in CN red or in black. Any thoughts !*don-know!*

I'm having fun with our new designer ... !*cheers*!

Digging it! I've been expanding the route in my own time and inevitably ended up designing some more tight industrial spaces. I think the engine top cover being in CN black would be solid.

Wish it didn't take so long for me to see this, just began my last college semester. It's been a doozy!

Not to worry about time; time is on the side of retirees !*roll-laugh*! !!jabber!!

I've decided to produce a second unit. number 16 without a driver, thus we could have double power to haul heavy car loads, such as fuel tankers to the depot. Furthermore I will have one critter with a yellow-black stripes bumper and the second with red-white stripes !!howdy!!

On another note, since you are slowly expanding the route, I have a proposal- looking at the map and having North at top, could you expand north-easterly to provide a few spurs to a deep marine cove, having steep rocky slopes (such as one would find in Newfoundland). On one side of the cove there could be typical sea-side houses going up the flanc (like as in a Switzerland landscape); while on the rail spur side we would have a good size fishery complex - doing canning but fish nursery in large tanks and even oyster beds !*hp*! (the G-traX pickle plant could be adapted). The fishery complex coud use reefers for their products and feed for its nursery.... !*don-know!*

Enjoy your last semester, it more enjoyable than real work *!twisted!*

The GE 44 ton switcher, QMI numbers 14 and 15 is ready for duty.
I’ve sent it to Chacal for upload in the Library.

Enjoy, QcRail

This was in my 44 ton folder it was listed as QMI. Is this the same painter with the !*cheers*! problem?

I had noticed that was in the other QMI folder as well. I just disregarded it since we have the new ones coming to the library soon.

Sorry for a lack of replies recently, last semester's Capstone has been kicking me down a fair bit. *!sad!* I still do make progress on the line though, slowly but surely!

Having had a quick look at the files, the issue appears to be that the edits were only applied to the .nmc versions of the textures, which the game loads for those with texture quality turned down. The .nm versions of the textures are left as the defaults, a mix of SP and RW&A. I made a couple edits to mine to get it working, and I have to say that it's a wonderful addition to a great little route. If you would like, I could send you my version with the texture edits made -- or if you don't want to reexport everything from your photo editor, delete the main .nm versions, copy the .nmc version, and rename it to end with .nm.

The installation process is giving me problems. It uses the Southern Pacific 44-tonner for the .geopcdx files, right? Doesn't seem to be cooperating with me, despite following the instructions.
