Just a suggestion if I may: Once the location of the numbers is determined, and you begin changing the color to "white"; please consider toning down the brightness so it is more in line with the brightness of any white logos or data stencils that appear on the railcar, especially the weathered ones. Far too often, many railcars in the sim feature road numbers, typically from a shared folder, that are far too bright. They may be okay for a factory-fresh paint-job, but most of the sim's stock has some degree of weathering, so these numbers appear out of place unless the company set about a re-numbering program with freshly stenciled numbers. In addition to modifying the number's brightness, it is also possible to apply a weathering layer to them, just like weathering the paintwork on the railcar; although due to the size-scaling of the numbers in relation to the railcar, it is sometimes necessary to "up-scale" or re-size the weathering on the numbers so they will be a better match to the weathering on the railcar once they are applied by the sim.

The above suggestion can even apply to black numbers as well, as evidenced by your screenshot in the first post; the lighter shade of black on the road number versus the darker black used for the stenciling.

Again, this is just a "while your at it" suggestion. If it turns out to be a pain to implement, then don't worry about, it's not a show-stopper. I'd rather see you finish your repaint than get bogged down trying to "re-invent the wheel" and get discouraged. Repainting is a hobby and it's supposed to be fun.

One other note: If you change those black letters to white and they are in a shared folder; keep in mind that unless you create a new naming convention and apply it to the corresponding geo or bin files, for the newly converted "white" numbers, any railcar that requires the original black numbers will now be white; so on a white or light grey railcar for example, the previous black numbers will now become practically invisible after being converted to white. On a lighter note (pun intended), it should be possible to "target" an existing folder full of white numbers with similar fonts, even if it's for a different railcar; but I will defer to Buzz for that one, as it's been a while since I've done any repaints.

Please don't forget to answer Buzz's question about the model. Good luck.

I don't have that particular car but if they are consistent there will be a numbers folder inside the texture folder. open the number TGPCDX file one at a time and change the main layer color from black to white observing Rudy suggestion about using a color somewhat gray instead of stark white and keeping the alpha layer alone. This should change the color from black to white. I am assuming you know how to get these to the editor and back. If you are not familiar with the procedure let me know.

I do but when i change the main texture (not the alpha) and load it back into RSBin, it's unchanged.

Then something is amiss in your saving it. You need to look at the file and see if it's updated or not.

Also check each texture file's properties (right-click on the file to select properties) and ensure that the "read only" box is unchecked.

I figured it out. So I usually save the new .dds file over the old as to not have it so crowded. Works fine with other textures. Saving it as a whole new .dds then importing it in changed it. !*YAAA*!
Thanks to all for your help/input in this *!!thnx!!*

Here it is in all of its glory. Minor things left to do yet though but numbers are out of the way. :D
