Simulation File for B&O Retro Pack GP9 - Passenger Speed Gearing

Unread postby PullmanCar » Sun Jun 11, 2023 3:56 pm

I am hoping some of the scripting or enhancement experts here might be able to assist with altering the simulation file on the B&O Retro Pack GP-9 to use passenger specs as the real ones did, rather than freight. The in game ones seem to top out around 65-67, whereas the real passenger GP9s were available at 71 MPH, 77 MPH, 83, and 89 MPH. I suppose one could inquire with the B&O Museum regarding 6607; or the South Branch Valley about 6604 to see what they are geared for, but I would wager probably 60:17 (77 MPH) or 59:18 (83 MPH), as I think it was only those on the corridor for 89 MPH. Some of the SP units were originally only set for 71 MPH operation, but later upped to 77 (and then derated to 65 post Commute Service).

If I can confirm which of these is correct, would someone here be willing to help alter the simulation on the B&O Retro Pack passenger units to reflect this?

Thank you.

Hi,

The B&O Geeps are already set up with separate simulation files for the passenger and freight versions. I've just tested them on TrestTrak's loop and all was working as expected on both the GP7s and -9s. The freight units maxed out at ~67 mph, the passenger units at ~87 mph.

Were you by any chance pulling coaches when you've "hit the speed barrier" in your scenario? Can you replicate the pax/freight top speeds (on any route) if you the engines light?

Cheers,
Michael

Thank you very much for the information. I was only pulling one car when I originally noticed it. After your very helpful comment I went and checked my files, I had an enhancement that altered simulation (improved it said) but had a blanket file for freight and passenger. Switched it back to the original from the .ap file, and boom 86.7 MPH light engine. I will try later with the same single car on an inspection run from the original scenario.

Thank you.
