Need help with Alpha layers

Unread postby CArailroader » Sun Jun 02, 2019 2:15 am

Hello All,

I'm currently working on a simple Virginia and Truckee reskin of Smokebox's wonderful consolidation. I tried alpha-ing out the 0 digit "painted_and_stencilled_number_0.TgPcDx" so that I could have two digit numbered engines. However I can't seem to get it so that the blank numberboard background still shows up without the number. The two pictures show as I have it so far, the first as it looks on the cab, blank as it should be. The second, showing the numberboard, where the problem lies. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Getting a number texture transparent is a pain!

I have another solution:
1) you need to go to the Texture file which has all the numbers, usually 0 to 9 along with primary_number0 and do on...
In this folder you need to place a new texture, let's say °number_x.TgPcDx°. Where to find it? lots of rolling stock texture folder may have it; if my memory is right, many of GreatNortherner freight cars has it. Worse I could send you a copy.
2) for this new number texture to be activated, you need to add a two line call (say after no.9) with the mention X for ''number_x''. Since I am not in the Smokebox folder, I cannot give you the exact file but it could be ''conso_VT_numbers.bin'', whereby, each texture number is directly linked"

Good luck,

If you want that portion to be totally transparent both the (main layer) and the alpha need to be dead black. That will make it transparent so you will then see the background color.
